problem with a drug dealer....

nevermind potentially entangling the homeowners with the danger of prison in this crazy fascist state

ok I have a little problem.

Since Jan a drug dealer has been coming on an unfenced(used for public service parking at community ballpark - so can't be fenced) are of my property and sitting in his darkened car at all hours of the night to meet for deals. I have warned him to leave twice verbally and once chased him off. (twice if you count just now when I wasn't chasing him off, I was going down the road a little bit in my car to wash clothes and he is paranoid now)

I don't like our drug laws, but at the same time I do not support drug dealing on my property, I don't use or condone drug use, but it isn't my business UNTIL THEY come on my property.

It is getting a little concerning to me as tonight I saw him speed off then come around on the road and rev his engine a couple times in front of my house as I was stopping at my destination.

my question, WWRPFD?

Best advice? If they have more guns than you, dont piss them off until you get a bigger gun.

Technically, this should be all the more reason for legalization of drugs. It takes power away from the criminals.

The more risk there is associated with something that is illegal, the more those people will charge. If weed were available at every 7-11 across teh country and available by the metric ton, and cheap, where would the drug dealers get the money which gives them their power? Yeah they'll buy guns, but again, its not guns that are the problem. Its the way they are used. They use guns to rob honest people. Honest people use guns to defend themselves. Criminals look beyond the laws anyway, so any gun law does nothing more than punish the honest citizen. This gives criminals more power. Make drugs illegal, and those that sell drugs (biting my tongue from calling them criminals, its the other things they do that makes me call them criminals) sell them at a value proportional to their risk.

If the sentence for being found with one ounce of pot were EXECUTION, pot would still be on the street, except it would be a thousand dollars an ounce. Some people would still sell pot, and with those kinds of profit margins, they buy anything they want, even the law.

It sounds like he thinks he is on public property, or maybe he thinks you're just bs'ing him? I assume you've made him aware it is your property?

Maybe you can suggest a better location for him?

If you have to talk to him again I would let him know that you don't think what he is doing should be illegal, but you think trespassing is.

If he were selling bracelets in the lot I assume you would be concerned?

Maybe it is thought to be public property, but it will soon be marked, but even if it is public property he knows it is wrong to do it on a community park, that isn't a place to be soliciting anything even bracelets, it is posted as a rule.

They don't even allow the schools to sell candy bars there for their fund raisers, all can be brought in and given freely, or bought at concessions.

Not my job to suggest a location.
I can't speak extensively the window is not normally down, and I was yelling at a long range, when I got close the window went up, not much room for discussion.

I had a problem with somebody pulling into my driveway at some early hour of the morning and making a rut in the grass next to the driveway. This kept up for a number of years till I put up three flash units in the windows of my house and buried a switch in the rut the guy had made.

Around 3 in the morning, I saw a bright flash from one of the flash units and got up to see what had caused it to go off. In just a few minutes, the guy was knocking on my front door yelling how I had scared him almost to death with all of the bright flashes coming from my house.

He said he thought he was being robbed. Turns out, it was the newspaper delivery guy and he would turn around in my driveway every morning. I just told him he was the one who caused the bright flashes when he missed the driveway. He said he wasn't going to deliver the paper anymore so I told him I would talk to the newspaper company about getting somebody else to do it. That's when the shut his mouth and left. Never had a problem with him missing the driveway after that.

Ask him to pay you rent. Give him a bill for every hour that he sits on your property.

Great story! I had nice visuals on that one.

I hate it when our paper carrier drives on 6 inches of snow half way up ours and every other driveway on the block before anyone has a chance to shovel it. It makes a lot more work for his few seconds per house saved. When I was a kid, you delivered them in a bag slung over your shoulder. Now it seems the newspaper carriers are lazy men who drive around in cars. And then he expects a tip? I bet he never shovels his driveway or he would know how much that pisses people off.

Now were can I get some flash units... :D

It's tough to get pwned harder than that. You'd really have to try.

No need to mess with running ethernet cable for a webcam - just Google around and find a good wildlife camera. They're used by hunters to scope out hunting spots. They run off batteries, can be mounted to a tree, and store images or video to a memory card that you can then view on your computer. Most are motion activated so you're not recording unless someone's there. Most have infra red for night vision.

It is unwise to walk up to a drug dealer with a gun. Do not brandish a gun unless you are prepared to use it and live forever knowing that you took a life when it may not have been necessary to do so.

In Minnesota, brandishing or even saying you have a gun can lead you to jail time. It is considered a threat.

Don't disclose you have a gun unless you feel you are in life threatening danger and are ready to pull the trigger.

M80 with a very long fuse. Binoculars. Next time he's in the middle of a transaction.... KABOOM.

Setup a sprinkler system that constantly oscilattes water all over the area.

Have you considered posting signs to scare his customers away?

Ditto...These premises employ hidden night vision security recording systems. Illicit activity caught will be promptly shared with the proper authorities.

or something similar

I live near a ball field. If that guy came down to my area I would report him after being there for a few nights, don't want that going on in my neighborhood.

its tough to say because the guy could be dangerous. You don't wanna threaten him too much, because its possible that hes wacked out on whatever hes selling, and its probably not weed if parking in the middle of nowhere for hours to make sales in the middle of the night is his MO. There is not enough profit in marijuana sales to justify the expense and effort and the exposure for that matter. Hes probably out there selling cocaine or opiates, or meth.

I dunno how you could ward this guy off, but whatever you do, I suggest you prepare for the worst. Some one who clearly is not me mentioned some sort of contraption, a kind of tool that may not have its instruction manual, warranty, or receipt.
