Seeing it everywhere. What is our most effective response to this?

I like how people think of buying insurance after they're already sick, and then act like the insurance company is the devil. It's like letting your house burn down, then trying to get the insurance company to insure your house. -.- She couldn't get insurance before but once she was sick she was willing to pay for PCIP?

Can't believe people would be swayed by this.

Why didn't she have Insurance outside of her employment? They are her employer not her healthcare facility.

It's so refreshing to read somebody's words who gets this!! +1 rep!!

Good arguments. Still hard to argue against the emotional argument people make when they honestly can't afford health insurance outside work (if they even have a job). I know it is the government's fault it is so expensive, but it's hard to not be sympathetic for those people.

And just because her job didn't provide health insurance, it didn't stop her from going out and getting a policy of her own!! It's called personal responsibility!! Yes, I realize it would be more expensive, but one does what one has to do.

Actually, it's less expensive.

I pay under $75 a month for a $2M policy. I use it as insurance, though, and not for "free" doctors visits, so my deductible is $7500. I save about that much each year over the same exact policy, but with a $1k deductible.

High deductible health insurance isn't that expensive and is really all that most people need.

The first sentance says it. Her job does not provide insurance. Thus, get a different job with an employer who does. Easier said than done but why stay on when you know sooner or later you'll be sick in some capacity. Forethought anyone? I always thought that benefit packages were a competitive advantage between employers to keep and hire good workers.

Ii is good to heal and help people, i am happy for her.
so this oBOMBa guy is some f'n doctor huh?

really doh, folks need to come to grips with their own mortality, we aren't promised our next breath...does she know this?

DON 'T LET THEM HOLD YOU HOSTAGE WITH YOUR OWN SKIN!

1. In most states BEFORE Obama care, health care was available to indigents. My ex-wife had a heart attack two years ago. The ambulance rushed her to the hospital, they did an angioplasty, inserted a stent, and sent her home. Amount she paid= $0. Amount of the bill sent to the State=$50,000.

2. The ROOT problem is the extreme cost of health care which has resulted from government intervention in the healthcare market. Healthcare is the most highly regulated and subsidized industry in America. Can anyone really argue that the problem with healthcare is to LITTLE government?

Some of us took care of ourselves and are in good health. Here I am: 18 years old, never broken a bone, ride my bike a lot, work out every evening, I don't even know what it's like to throw up.

So why should money be stolen from me to subsidize less-healthy people, most of whom could've done something to prevent their condition. Health insurance would be a lot cheaper not only if government wasn't involved, but also if people didn't go to the doctor/hospital every damn time they had a headache or upset stomach demanding meds.

How any one could not see that government is the problem with health care is totally beyond my ability to phantom

The fundamental issue that they struggle with is the fact that they think certain goods and services are "Rights". One does not have a right to someone else's life or property.

Catastrophic coverage is a little over $100/mo. Bet this hippie has an iPhone w/ a contract.

Please link to your provider, the cheapest I've been quoted is $6500.00 yr!

Wow, her message is lacking a great deal of detail. Details which would most likely subvert her assertion.

First of all, what state she is in matters as far as pre-existing condition.

Secondly, if she was in pain and went to the ER they would have treated her, it's that simple. It is against the law to turn anyone away. If she didn't have insurance, she would just get a full bill vs a bill that reflects insurance coverage.

On her website she says that she has had chronic health issues her whole life:
http://giveneyestosee.com/blog/about/

Then she got a part time job as a massage therapist and the business folded in 2009. She got another part time job in Feb 2010.

If she has had chronic health issues her whole life, why did she seem so surprised she would need insurance? Wouldn't she be aware that she should take steps to get covered?

She calls herself a pagan, goddess... Her live journal: http://memoryanddream.livejournal.com/

In this early 2002 webpage of hers, she lists "magik" as an interest
http://web.archive.org/web/20021208184657/http://www.giveneyestosee.com/index2.html

Maybe its time to call the great Randi?

She lists 100 facts about herself here:
http://web.archive.org/web/20021217221412/http://www.giveneyestosee.com/m/about/100things.html

One includes vice president of the drama club...

On this weblink (Oct 2007) she talks about her love of Tarot and whatever the hell "otherkin" is:
http://web.archive.org/web/20071012124400/http://giveneyestosee.com/magick/

In any event you can link to yearly archives of her website here, just click on the year and then a day.

I feel sorry that she had to go through whatever she did, but if I had to wager an assessment (as an analyst) I would say she is a bit of a life failure, who is looking to capitalize on her "condition" by attempting to become an Obama poster child. She seems like a liar to me, and I could not find any mentions of her illnesses in older blog posts. Which you would think would be there based on her current assertions, if it is as important as she said, why didnt she mention it then?

So yes, I feel bad she had to go through what she did, but she seems like she is trying to be a martyr.

Another drama student, turned pagan who considers making crafts art? Weird.

I would be interested to find out how her magic and paganism helped heal her? Couldn't she just summon the goddess of healing or something?

She is trying to blame everyone who is opposed to Obamacare for her life experiences, so shame on her. She should become a champion of personal responsibility, teaching others how you are the best person to take care of you.

Her provider unjustly throws people in cages, murders people and pets in their own homes, and conducts genocidal wars. If her provider would get out of the insurance "business" all together then providers and people would be more than willing to help her out. Also, if her treatment is too expensive and potentially terminal then they will offer reject her coverage and instead offer her a suicide pill.

If the government would get out of health care then should could've had health care in the first place! Once again the government tries to remedy problems IT created with MORE government. That's what people don't understand.....
