Primary Results June 5th - CA, MT, SD, NJ, NM (Delegate Allocation Rules in 1st Post)

We all get angry when these primaries/caucuses happen. Pretty much every time. I hit bottom on super tuesday and expected what came after. Freedom isn't as popular as we'd like to think.

super tuesday was the day. yup, same here. if we couldn't win one of those 10, with a lot of north there, hmm.

So, are those in California just stupid and absolutely retarded? DO they not realize Romney will amp up the drug war more than Obama?!?!?!?!?

I'm not quite sure what that would look like... I almost said I don't think that's possible but I suppose anything is possible. Obama is the worst drug war President in my lifetime, at least that I'm aware of.

Will he? I didn't get that impression. Anyway, it is silly to ask if CA voters are stupid. After all, they live in CA. That means they are either stupid, hate liberty or don't give a F about politics. Except for NJ, CA is the least free state that doesn't swing. NY is actually the least free state but it does swing from D to R from time to time, at least somewhat. NJ and CA just don't swing from party to party.

Everyone expected Ron Paul to do bad in CA and the voters didn't let us down. As polls showed, Paul is doing better on the coast than inland.

Well I like to think I don't fit any of your characterizations of Californians. I won't take it personally though, because living here, I guess I can see why you say that. I hope there are a lot of others out there like me who left the Dems and registered Republican because we give a F so much we are supporting Ron Paul. Wish there was some way to know what the numbers are!

The biggest opposition I seem to get from friends and family in trying to get RP converts is, "Yea he wants freedom except when it comes to my uterus." Apparently Liberty of one's uterus is extremely important when Obama's signing of the NDAA can throw you AND your uterus into a military prison indefinitely, with no due process. Nothing I say can seem to get through to the "it's my body and I'll kill my baby if I want to" crowd that pervades Southern California.

There are two things in California that worry me the most for this primary, and I hope I'm wrong and RP still wins plenty of districts, but:

1. Last year we switched to a form of open primary system but it's for everything EXCEPT the Presidential primary and the Central Committee members. (I think those are the only exceptions, anyway.) I think a lot of people who may have been considering voting for Ron Paul may not have known they still needed to register Republican to do so.
2. California is a highly Blue state. There are millions of Republicans here too, but I think the demographic for Republicans skews much more toward the old folks here. And they are crabby old Romney people because they've been told he's the guy to beat Obama and they get pretty much all their political information from the boob tube and the newspaper. (I'm over-generalizing, of course, but I do think this is mostly the case here. And I suppose the reason they're so crabby is because I was calling them to ask them to vote for Ron Paul... LOL I found some really sour ones out there!)

Trying to stay optimistic. I'm hoping we still get some district wins.

CA voters got tricked into voting for Prop 28, which is leading 65%-35%.

Prop 28:

Reduces total amount of time a person may serve in the state legislature from 14 years to 12 years. Allows 12 years' service in one house. Applies only to legislators first elected after measure is passed. Fiscal Impact: No direct fiscal effect on state or local governments.

Sounds like it reduces the amount of time someone can serve but it actually increases it by a lot. Currently, someone can serve in the State Assembly for 6 years and in the State Senate for 8 years for a total of 14 years (which hardly anyone does). Prop 28 increases the amount of years someone can serve in the Assembly from 6 years to 12 years (100% increase) and in the Senate from 8 years to 12 years (50% increase).

sigh.... idiots. I voted against it, but I pay attention.

Looks like District 52 has three openings on the central committee...

Vaughn is in second, but since they get 7 and there were only 4 to vote for, they are all in. Vaughn is one of ours though.

Give arguing with the anti Scott Walker people a whirl. WHERE WOULD WE BE WITHOUT GOVERNMENT?!?! IN THE FACTORIES AND MINES, THATS WHERE.

These are Republicans and its a closed primary. And youre expecting potheads to vote? They couldnt even get prop 19 passed.

Some results I found for my local area here in CA, from the la times. Pete Stark's not the worst Dem there is, but I voted for Christopher Pareja...

U.S. House District 15
Livermore
Precincts reporting: 34.4% (164/477)
Party Votes Percent
Pete Stark* Dem 17,779 43.3%
Eric Swalwell Dem 14,619 35.6%
Christopher Pareja NPD 8,665 21.1%

Does anyone have the link to the GOP Central Committee results? I feel like that's a place we could do well.

Here's the main results page for Orange County, CA. You then have to click on the links along the left to see the results of each contest. They have just barely started to post results from a few precincts.

Incidentally, I think Orange County is the only one in the whole state where registered Republicans outnumber Dems. (Correct me if I'm wrong... Maybe somebody else knows for sure.)

four of the six liberty central committee members from my district are winning, two are losing unfortunately, so far. Still out of seven, four would be a majority at least from our district, if that holds true (it is only 2% of the vote). I hope we pull a majority overall.

Voted against that as well. I think both resolutions, the term "decrease", and some other tax hike, all pegged as negative.

These CA results are abysmal. What fools there are amongst us day-by-day.

Thank you John and Jesse for your well thought out and very Strategic Campaign E-Mail of May 14th.

You certainly knew what you were doing, didn't you!!!!

Yeah you know we're fucked when the most precious unions are govt worker unions, which produce NOTHING. I'm willing to bet over 90% of those govt employees are working for their kids to get jobs that don't include factories and mines. You know, we Americans are all about pencil-pushing and nothing about producing a damn thing.

"What? Our money is backed by our production or by how many people we bully abroad? Oh my..."

Speaking as a born and raised California, I can understand and agree with the hate lol. I plan on moving to another state one of these days (after I finish school hopefully). Anyway, I got my girlfriend to register to vote a few months ago and took her to the polls today so we could cast our vote for Dr. Paul. I also just got word from my dad that I was able to get him and my mother to vote Paul as well. May not be much, but I'm glad i was able to get at least a few people to vote for liberty.
