Please help us help the campaign

He needs to hammer the war issue more imo. Hard. Don't let the establishment put it on the backburner, which is what they are doing.

when you mention abolishing the department of education... you need to be clear about how public schools STILL exist... and that the answer to primary education is not just dumping more and more money

bump

1) anti war stance and why.
2) Monetary police, the excessive printing of dollars leading to inflation
3) AGAINST NAFTA!!! Loss of good jobs to supposed free trade, and how Dems, and GOP will not address!! Jack Davis a local Buffalo, NY businessman sounds a lot like Mr. Paul about this. He has run 2x, and is considering a 3rd run against Congressman Reynolds. He was a former GOP voter, but passionate about this issue, and almost took Reynolds out last year. JOBS are a huge issue.
4) Patriot act needs lots of safeguards or elimination

By the way saw my first political signs of the season. Three big Ron Paul signs at the major intersections around Buffalo, NY. Thought this was Giuliani country, lol.

It's not hard to sell Ron Paul. All of us do it nearly daily, when we talk to our family/friends. But to do it on a nationwide scale, they've got to do a nationwide appeal. Hopefully they can figure out how to do that.

DJ, I agree. But the commercials the campaign keeps putting out look nothing like this list. It seems to me they are trying to sell him to the wrong crowd. There are a lot more anti-war folks than they realize and instead they are pushing his stance on abortion which pleases no one. He is too weak on abortion for the pro-life crowd and he is too much against it for the pro-choice crowd. They would do better to ignore the issue completely and try to get the apathetic voters with vibrant eye catching issues like we all fell for. When they water him down and try to appeal to a broader public, he loses big time.

Ron Paul appeals to nearly all Americans, if only they would focus on his top issues: pro liberty, pro freedom, sound economics. Who is against liberty? Who wants to lose their savings? Who wants the government watching their every move?

They have lost sight of what is going on in this country and why we all call it a revolution. The campaign also seems to have no idea how dissatisfied Americans are with their country and leaders these days. When you only have three issues or so to focus on, why would you ever pick abortion and religion as two of them for Ron Paul? He can't possibly win that game against Huckabee, so why try?

You aren't selling the candidate nation wide right now, you are selling him to regions with their own particular concerns.

So, Huckabee sold Jesus to the Christians, as if Ron Paul isn't one of the most truly Christian men we've ever met. Ron Paul actually knows that Jesus is the Prince of Peace, that's more than Huckabee knows. But Huckabee made a big show of praying in the marketplace, the very thing that Jesus rails the Pharisees about in Matthew 23.

well, you don't need to hear all that except to show you that it is all about marketing to a particular region. If those evangelicals knew their own religion, they would be voting for Dr. Paul. But, Huckabee spoon feeds them some marketing pablum and they eat it up.

Huckabee will have to sell something else in New Hampshire, and he will, because he has markateers handling him. Watch how his message changes in New Hampshire.

If Obama is going after Independent men and Republican women, we should be too. Also, Independent women. The Independents will make this race, and could win it for Dr. Paul if they can be convinced to vote Republican. They are liberal, anti war, state's rights, Constitution, sound money, Don't tread on me big government. This is Dr. Paul's message. If only they could hear it.

FIRST - explain why the Patriot Act is bad, how the Signing Orders are bad, how less government would work in real life.

HOW IT AFFECTS THEM.

Most people have not clue.

getting rid of the patriot act, civil liberties, less government intervention in our lives

Perhaps most of the Republicans in Iowa were Christians, but most of the people didn't vote Republican. Only 30% did. So marketing specifically to Christians in Iowa ignored a much larger group - the Inds who were 39% of the vote. I don't have the figures right now, but I heard that the Dems got a lot more of the vote than the Republicans did and they are not focusing on religion.

It seems to me that Ron Paul can easily win the country, but he has to get past the primaries first. The only way he is going to win the primaries is to get all of the Inds that he can and all of the apathetic voters. I don't think you get those people if you target to a group that is fast dying - the Republican voter.

I am not a Republican. I never have been nor will be. I registered Republican to vote for Ron Paul. Ron Paul will not win with Republicans. They hate him. See Fox news. So pandering to them is silly. What do you think Ron Paul could ever say to get Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh to vote for him? That is the typical Republican voter.

You don't have to say that Ron Paul is against the patriot act, you just have to say that Ron Paul wants to get the government off your back. You don't have to say that Ron Paul is against the Fed, just that he has a way to get rid of a little known tax on the poor called inflation. No need to get specific, just tell the people that Ron Paul wants to make it easier on the poor and middle class to get by in this country and he wants to take the taxes off of them. Mention that he wants to protect Social Security for the old and make it optional for the young. Tell them that Ron Paul wants to end this war and bring all our soldiers home so the people of this country paying one trillion dollars in income tax each year could save one trillion dollars in tax money leaving you got it: zero dollars in income tax to pay each year.

Just explain the bottom line. You pick the issues, then we let marketing experts sell it. But first we need to know what is so special about Ron Paul and what brought you to him? I am asking because I believe the campaign is mis-marketing him.

I suport Ron Paul because I'm an America firster. NOTHING means more to me than COMPLETE American sovereignty, under the Constitution.

Note: This message is NOT getting out. Ron Paul talks too much about free trade, instead of the total devastattion of our manufacturing base. THAT message is VITAL in the midwest and the rust belt.

The guy who made the Ron Paul Rising video should be making RPs TV spots. That guy is BRILLIANT and talented. Most people actually CRIED when they saw that video. I'll tell you why is was so good: It was POSITIVE and it appealed to EMOTION. That works in advertising.

I see a commercial that shows desolate American factories, with tumbleweed blowing around, and foreclosure signs all over - followed by that stirring music and visual used in that video, showing America on the rise, with a message of restoring this great nation. It MUST be positive.

No more talk about trading with China! We have been traded right out of existance. It's time to TAKE THIS COUNTRY BACK and Ron Paul needs to communicate that.

Guess I should stop lurking and admit why I got interested. Got to be an active participant to create change right?

I am a Ron Paul supporter because...

1) He believes in the free exercise of religion for all Americans.

[Comment: Unfortunately, many religious Americans are prohibited from taking on jobs or serving their country because of objections to their religious practice. For example, you can't wear a yarmulke/hijab/turban and join the military. A tack like this can help in the more religious areas, ie assuring evangelicals he will protect their rights, and amongst minorities, ie the opposite of isolating Muslims like Rudy is (esp those who would vote for Dr. Paul due to his foreign policy ideas -- but won't because they are unsure of the R next to his name, big for MI). ]

2) He offers real solutions to Social Security crisis.

[Comment: You can play the "guilt card" on retiring voters in a way that does not make them think will lose SS entirely - ppl focus on the extreme of the position as noted with Dept of Education & IRS stuff and don't realize that there is gradual change or that the Dr. has thought his position through.
For example, a 30 sec spot roughly like this: show retired couple; Announcer "You worked your entire life and aid your taxes to reach the golden days of retirement. But what about your children?"; Flash to chart showing rise in costs with grandkids/kids; "They will have to work longer and harder watching their taxes rise. Why?"; Capitol Picture; "Because Congress keeps using your kids' Social Security taxes to support their spending addiction"; Ron's record - "worked to protect your Social security and keep it out of the hands of the politicians and in the hands of tax paying Americans"; regular end montage.]

3) He advocates fiscal responsibility and practices fiscal responsibility.

[Comment: The 'never voted to raise taxes', 'believes in a balanced budget' stuff are great bullet points the way we've been using them. But we've got to personalize it. Another ad idea: Show a tree with dollar bills as leaves; "Think money grows on trees? Congress sure does."; Show hands pulling bills off the tree while panning out to a forest of trees with empty branches; "They spend and spend without caring about the impact of their actions"; Dr. Paul's record - tie the image/language into his love of gardening to help sell the person as real and not just abstract policy (Huck was right on Leno, folks like to see that candidate is like the guy they work with); End image of him planting/tending to money tree (he doesn't just spend but cares about the system enough to do something.)]

Sorry this is long, but as other posters indicated it can be hard to bring the Dr.'s ideas to an easy to understand level. Most folks, unfortunately, rely on the easy to remember sound-bites and images rather than detailed policy write ups. While Dr. Paul can convey his deep understanding with some of the policy talks, he may be seen as 'too academic', thus, unintentionally affiliating himself with the 'liberal academia' much of the traditional/stereotypical primary voting Republican base has been told to be suspicious of. or scaring away people because they don't want to think. I understand that the ad suggestions may strip away a lot of the nuances but sometimes you've got to get really simple to connect with the voters and to tap into their inner-dissatisfaction.

Hope this helps a little bit. Good luck getting all the great ideas everyone else has to someone who has the ability to do something with them.

I support Ron Paul because he appears to be the only one in Washington who takes his oath of office seriously.

When I was about to be drafted back in 1969, I enlisted into the Navy where I was made to take an oath to protect the Constitution of the United States of America from all enemies, foreign or domestic. I took my oath seriously unlike so many in Washington.

Now in all the years since Vietnam, I have watched as our liberties and freedom supposedly guaranteed by the Constitution have been slowly eroded away by bigger and bigger government. Now for once, along came someone who would actually make a change in the direction toward more liberties and freedom, his name is Ron Paul.

Ron Paul, being a man of integrity, takes his oath of office seriously and will do what it takes to reduce the size of the government and restore our liberties and freedom.

The entire problem with our government today is no one is being held responsible when in violation of their oath of office.
