PFH now calling Iowa for GOTV START CALL ASKING IF THEY"VE ALREADY BEEN CALLED SEE INSIDE

Yes , talk normal as a real person and not reading the script like a robot. Treat it like the person is someone you know that just needs a friendly reminder.

I haven't gotten anyone mad at me yet, and I do try to sound friendly.

The first sentence is You are speaking with xxxxxx from xxxxxx, IA.

About half the time that's not right.

And my first sentence has to be made up. Hi, can I speak to xxx from xxx?

Off the script immediately. Half the time it's "this is he/she" the other half it's "who is this".

I used to make money from doing phone calls, too.

In general, people have been really nice (except the one that hung up), so they realize the system is new and there are some duplication calls. But it would be nice to have this streamlined as we get into larger states that are going to require a much larger number of calls.

The larger states with this many volunteers to GOTV if it was efficient and no duplications would be a game changer.

Haha, my secretary just totally busted me making phone-from-home calls in my office after I told her that I was too busy to take calls this morning. Someone reading this thread needs to volunteer to take over for me so that I can get some work done with a clear conscience. ;)

Don't look at me...........I have my secretary doing MY work, while I call from home! LOL

If someone tells you that they know their caucus location, don't necessarily take their word for it.

Many Iowans, especially first time caucus-goers, mistakenly assume they caucus at the same place that they cast their general election ballots. I tell them that caucus locations are often different than general election polling places, and offer to use the caucus location finder on the campaign website on their behalf to find their caucus location and/or offer them the web address to search themselves. I think it's preferable to look it up for them so that they don't forget or procrastinate.

We don't want to spend all this time making calls only to wind-up having a bunch of supporters showing up at their courthouse or town hall when the caucus is at a local school.

Yikes...last 3 calls people have been pissed because we've called many times in past few days here. Someone running the show had better get on it and make sure the names are being taken off the list if they've been called. I fear we're turning people off.

Please be sure to take your time and mark off the boxes appropriately. ;)

Yep, my last 2 callers said they have been contacted 5 times.

I use the one from the voter Id script. Is John smith available please? Hello my name is seapilot and I am a volunteer for the Ron Paul Campaign, have you already been contacted by the campaign about caucusing for Ron Paul tonight? Yes you have gotten called with all the information? Ok great to know, thanks for your support!

There is overlap like crazy! I suggest everyone start out the call by asking them if they've been contacted by the campaign yet, and if so apologize, and then explain we have people from around the country calling and that there may be some overlap. Confirm yes or no and be sure to submit the answer so their not contacted again.

I had one person that was unsure, and their spouse had already been contacted but were not home. I went to the caucus page at ronpaul2012 put in their last name and zip and it was a different place than they thought.

This cannot be stressed enough.. most of my contacts have been called already. Probably better than 60%. Still I am getting new ones and people with questions.

Agreed..someone get my message on the first page...we don't want to be pissing people off! I can't imagine we've called everyone already?

ok, let me preface this: so i started off by asking whether or not he had been contacted by the campaign. he said he had, but that he was not going to caucus. he started out telling me that he was not going to be caucusing... i got into the specifics of why we need every vote, because the polls are so close and that we have to get everyone there that we can... he started talking about, well whats the point, iowa does not matter. i stated that in the last 30 years, only 2 candidates who won iowa did not win their party's nomination... then i went into how obama won and that springboarded his campaign to the national level, and that if we win tonight, we change the narrative that paul can not win, and that we go on to new hampshire with the momentum to win. he got real excited but said he wasnt going to caucus. i kept on with how we need every vote we can get, and asked if he could call some friends who may be interested since he will be busy and can not go. he then went on about how he liked ron paul the best, and hated the media and what they've done to him. said he wanted to focus on the issues. so i went into his 30 year consistent record and how that's what we need for president. he agreed. so i talked about how the national polls show that ron paul is pairing up really well against obama, and that we need a consistent conservative that can go up against him and win, not just so obama is gone, but so the american people can win, so that we can fix this economy, focus on bringing down the national debt, and start creating more jobs... he was like, wait a minute, repeat what you said, so i went back into how ron paul matches up really well against obama. i said that the reason for this was that he pulled in so many indy's and democrats, who now realize they get the chance to vote for what they thought they were voting for last time. he was like, you know what, i dont really tell people my political views, but i have been a democrat all my life. he said he hated obama, and wanted to get him out. i reiterated that ron paul was his man and that we really needed him tonight. that every person helps when we are only 1-2% from winning. i asked him why he wouldn't be able to make it tonight, whether he did not want to be involved in the process or just had things planned. he was like, well you know what, where is it? so i put his info into this http://www.ronpaul2012.com/caucus/, and got his caucus location. so i told him he could get there from 5:30-6:45 and just fill out the simple form, and he would be set. i told him the vote is at 7:00, and he can vote and head home. he said that the caucus wasn't far from his work, and that he would be going!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i told him right before we got off that we needed everyone we could, so if he could just call a couple friends or bring a few folks from work, and that in this tight race, this could be a difference maker... he said that he would!!!!!!!!!!! keep calling and get ready to talk... this took like 15 minutes, but was totally worth it.... i am on an emotional high right now. back to calling!!!!!!

Nice job, Twister. If we win tonight, it's going to be because we were able against all odds to pull in Democrat crossovers.

Well if there are say 2000 volunteers and 100,000 or less people to call that is 50 calls per person, so its possible.

It feels like we are going to not leave any stones left unturned.

great EXCEPT we don't want them to head home after the vote, the delegates elected after the vote are what matters, the vote itself is only a beauty contest and gives no delegates to vote for nomination at convention. We want people to stay and elect the Ron Paul delegates. Now, if it is just the vote or nothing, obviously it is better than nothing because it goes to the media narrative, but we want delegates.

If you are getting people who are angry about getting too many calls, think up a strategy (there are some in this thread) to handle those situations before you continue =), don't want to make anyone too mad!

I am shocked and apologize and say I'll be sure to let the campaign know! I am very contrite!! So far that's helped.... :p

Good work everyone! Whoever is calling, there is a lot of great information in this thread that will improve your calls, so read up!

I haven't gotten anyone tell me that they've been called before. I'm not asking about it though. They haven't been mad either.
