Peter Thiel has meeting with Rand Paul and delegates for Ron Paul in Tampa

We're not 100% sure people like Thiel aren't themselves co-opted or subject to being so. That convention meeting was an uncommon situation, as billionaires do not normally talk among regular folks. Who will have more consistent and heavy contact with him, when push comes to shove? Unless the network's board is set up as a consortium of already recognized independent liberty movement people, who control both its editorial and business decisions, it'll be raided by neo-cons in no time.

The fat cats of the power elite will be all over Thiel to 'balance' any network he runs with 'trusted' mainstream figures and producers (AKA, establishment hacks and flacks, or even some US intelligence assets) to control the content. "Respectability" and ratings will be the pretexts for pressuring the network to cover the same exact stories, the same exact way. Many big corporations will not advertise on the network based on its stands on military spending, drugs and the FDA, banks, etc. You'll notice that RT has been somewhat independent, largely because it doesn't rely on commercial advertisers. It's not just about the getting a willing fat cat to start it up, it's about sustaining its viability and liberty content afterwards.

I agree with everything you just said. Not saying it would be easy...nothing we do is easy. BUT.....I am convinced if we build it, they will come. Sure.....some advertisers will not toss money our way. But there are plenty of companies who would. They will advertise on whatever show has an audience since that's the whole purpose of advertising.

A Liberty News Network (or whatever they want to call it) has a hungry audience just waiting for something like this. A couple million people would be tuning in right out of the gate and could compete for ratings with most of the current news programs tomorrow.

They'll simply co-opt it, I personally think the only way to break MSM stranglehold over the TV is internet TV, and we need to move quick before the establishment create the infrastructure.

We bring freedom to the TV in the same way the internet has woken us up. Here is a link to my idea that I had, if anyone has better solution or ideas they can share it to get this going.

http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?388373-HOW-TO-BEAT-MSM....-FREE-THE-TV

The problem would be the same as with Fox business and RT. Many cable networks wouldn't carry it. We can get RT and al-Jazeera here, but only if we subscribe to them at $10 each per month.

I'd suggest going with Galaxy 19 and Internet broadcast and if you can get on cable networks - more power to you!

A couple of advantages w/ Galaxy 19 is there are tons of FTA (Free To Air - ie: no encryption and no no subscription needed) channels and there are tons of foreign channels so when things happen in the world you won't get the MSN's censored and regurgitated version of events. I don't know if they have channel slots available.

Ann Coulter? Smh

Wtf was Ann Coulter there for?

This was a meeting about liberty?

Maybe they should have invited Rush Limbaugh too, perhaps a cup of tea with Sean Hannity.

Or, maybe it was a bit of a mix, to see how they deal with each other as much as with him.

The facts are if you aren't at least on good terms with them, you won't be a winning GOP candidate. You can stick your head in the sand and pretend it's not true if that's what you want, no big deal. We only have 2 parties that win elections in this country and you have to make nice with them sometimes. If Rand wants to play nice and vote like his dad, so be it.

Just another reason to not get involved with the GOP. You do not speak for everyone in the liberty movement...well..the real one..not the apparently soon to be co-opted one. Some of us are not going to go gentle into that good night. But I agree apparently this is the path Rand is taking in order to fit in with them.

Good luck with your small tent movement; I wish you much success, just make sure to kick out everyone you disagree with on any issue.

Nobody speaks for everyone. I'm fine with what Rand is doing, I get it. He's just as good as his dad to me. It's just a different tactic. Ron said that outright in the interview with Wolf Blitzer during the RNC.

And good luck with your attempts to convince people that consorting with the Borg has anything to do with liberty.

A lot of things have been said and they are all up to individual interpretation.

Back in 2007, Coulter said that Ron Paul was dead right about everything except his foreign policy, and she was afraid to listen to him too closely because she was afraid she might find out he was right about that.

She's a media whore. She's no more interested in spreading liberty than she is about selling communism. What she is interested in is selling Ann Coulter. The fact that she made time to come hang out with a group of people that she has at least one fundamental difference with doesn't mean she's coming around. What it does mean is that she believes there's a buck to me made.

And that's not a bad thing for us. If she makes a million dollars selling at least a part our message, we all win.

And Thiel being there suggests the exact same thing.
