What would that be worth now ?

Well, the McGwire ball bought me some meetings. People tend to equate money with success: Hey, that guy spent $3 million for a baseball! Bring him in! It's like buying into a poker table. But then it's what you do once you're at the table. Anyway, I could have spent the money on a couple of Super Bowl commercials, but you think anybody would still be asking about them years later?

Todd McFarlane parlayed that ball into licensing deals that landed him into the being the official American manufacturer and distributor of sports toys for all 4 big American major league sports. So you tell me.

He also bought the Bonds 73rd HR ball, which he picked up for a "mere" 500,000, because it was in the height of the steroid scandal and people were afraid the record would be stricken.

I think he's ok with it. He describes himself as a guy with more money than sense, but that doesn't seem to be quite true.

Sounds like he is doing alright :)

George Zimmerman is releasing a new piece of artwork, this one portraying the special prosecutor who charged him with second-degree murder.

Robert Zimmerman Jr. posted his brother's new painting Wednesday on Twitter. He said details about its sale would follow Thursday.

The Daily Mail said:
AP serves George Zimmerman with a cease-and-desist order after he 'stole' their photographer's image for his latest painting

George Zimmerman's recent foray into the art world hasn't exactly earned him much critical praise. But it's definitely garnered him some attention - so much so that it could potentially get him sued by one of the largest news-wire services on earth.

For his latest painting, the man acquitted of murder in the shooting death of unarmed Florida teen Trayvon Martin has painted a portrait of Florida State Attorney General Angela Corey, who is the woman who decided to charge Zimmerman with murder in Martin's death.

The problem for Zimmerman, however, is that the photo he used as the basis for his painting is owned by the Associated Press, and the wire service doesn't appear too keen on the idea of letting Zimmerman use it free of charge.

I wonder how that works, exactly. Its not like he's made an exact copy, and its not like there weren't other people there, taking photos and videos. Does the AP have any legal standing? Or is the intention to just make him "court poor"?

Z is in the right. He didn't take a photo, plus he took license with it. I expect the prosecution to be dismissed quickly.

I kinda like the fact whoever bought it is out 100,099 dollars.
That person needs to own 100,099 less dollars. Just my opinion though.

I hope it brings them daily happiness though. Hung up there on their wall.
