Open your eyes: Huckabee people are on our side...

But it is true. They want our vote, not our voice.

Welcome to our forum, thanks for joining in this thread.

It is always amazing to me the lack of reading comprehension amongst our supposedly intelligent members. This thread is about "Huckabee people" not Huckabee.

The people who fail to understand that successful politicking demands working with people you may not agree with reminds me why the LP is such a failure.

We will have to work together in this party. Ron was my second choice in this race. You can call me what you please because I supported the candidate that my conscience allowed, but that is what the primaries are for. Huckabee and Paul created the best damn grassroots in the country. With money? no. With media? no. Because the supporters cared passionately about the causes that their candidate was vocal about. Do I agree with 100% of Ron Paul? no. Do I expect you to agree 100% with Hucakbee? no. Heck Mike isn't running for anything anymore! Most of Mike's supporters need to realize this. Lets work to get local, state, and federal candidates that will promote smaller government, less taxes, pro family and pro life choices. We need to work together.

I've been saying this for months. Thanks for the olive branch. I've had bad experiences with Huckabee supporters, but I've had more good ones--and I count reading this post as a good one. I say again--welcome!

Who're ya votin for POTUS, Brett? :)

I need to see who is running when we get there. It will not be Hillary or Obama. Will it be McCain? right now, yes. My candidates are no longer in the running. What is the consensus on RPF on this matter?

I don't think that there is a consensus here.<IMHO> As for me personally, NOTA is looking really good ( again!!! ). :D

As far as POTUS, we still support Ron Paul. Although some people are getting too far ahead. If Ron Paul isn't GOP nominee (hehe) or registers for write-in, most of us will probably vote 3rd party or independent. A lot of people here, including me, like Bob Barr: http://www.bobbarr2008.com . Not everyone though

We hate to compromise our ideals. We really hate that. A majority of us (not sure of the margin) still want to move heaven and earth to get Dr. Paul in a position where we can vote for him. Many will write him in.

We are sick to death of the lesser of evils. The lesser of evils does not deserve our votes. Call us unrealistic if you must. You won't be the first. A large and vocal minority of these bloggers will reward you with an amen.

"Any compromise between good and evil only works to the detriment of the good and to the benefit of the evil".

Even Huck might claim to agree with that one. ............................. NAH!!!

I understand and agree with not the desire to not vote for TLOTE.

I do know what an Obama or Clinton presidency will look like for the SCOTUS appointments and my conscience can not allow for that. (Although I do know that Reagan gave us one of the most liberal idiot justices out there) As for write ins - is this doable at a large degree? I am aware the RP'ers have been very successful in obtaining delegate positions in the party. Way to go. I and most of my friends are also delegates. What is the strategy? most states have strict rules in place to bind us to the vote. I'm not trying to be naive here - but if you have a tactic that can be discussed, id like to know.

thanks again.

Hope you have a strong sense of humor, bpassmore, and that it tends to the dry. Don't forget to gird yourself with it when you log on! We diehards didn't make it this far without having a form of release...

P.S. Here's how I get mine started in the mornings:

Why I didn't support Mike Huckabee? Because he wanted a national smoking ban and a whole lot of other national bans. How can you believe in state's rights and fight for national bans? The murder laws you see are at the state level, so why even fight for a national ban of abortion practices? That's weird. And what will that do? Just drive it to the underground.

I also didn't support him because I came from the LP with one intention - To support Ron Paul. So I really didn't care what Mike or any other of the GOP candidates had to say. I muted them all through debates and fast forwarded to Ron Paul.

I know nothing of the delegate process because I have been working on other things, but from what I hear people talk about... some have tried to pass resolutions in their state that will basically unbind the delegates. Some have even said that their just going to support who they want to support no matter want... I'm not sure the rules on that. I don't know the details... can a delegate here explain what they've been doing? =o

Write ins are doable in most states. The problem is motivating people to do it. We didn't hold out a lot of hope for that, but with the economy tanking we're just beginning to wonder if we had too little faith, to borrow a phrase. As for the delegates, we're pretty much making it up as we go along. Between the fact that McCain was born outside the Canal Zone in the Republic of Panama and the fact that he has violated his own McCain-Feingold law, there are possibilities...

Wasn't there a really good thread on Missouri and how we got delegates? There was also a good one on Texas. I can't find them--anyone?

I think it'd be great if Huck's people could help in making a statement via delegates.

McCain doesn't believe that Roe vs Wade should be overturned so what makes you think he will appoint anyone you would like? Just because he has an "R" next to his name? Nah. If RP loses I will switch back to the LP and support the nominee. At least in that party you know the person isn't elitist trash. I would prefer a nanny state socialist over a bastard warmongerer like McCain.

You thought I was "kidding" and being humorous? Think again please.

I wasn't talking about you at all. Were your ears burning? I was merely suggesting how he might defend himself in a herd of cats. And though you might not have been smiling, you made your point with a very deft use of irony--which is definintely a tool humorists have been known to use. And with all due respect to our guest, you'll note I didn't disagree with you.

I like many Huckabee supporters, but I never really trusted the guy. Sorry if that offends anyone.
