Open your eyes: Huckabee people are on our side...

idk, my feeling is the Huckabee people dislike us...

Thats another thing. Is there some Huckabee Tribunal that says that all Huckabee supporters must dislike RP supporters? Honestly, I've NEVER talked to a Huckabee supporter that disliked me. In fact, EVERY single one of them has been friendly and we've had discussions on foreign policy and conservatism.

Granted, a lot of them were people I was acquainted with, but so what? Huckabee supporters are people with logic and reason to, they can agree with us on issues!

I find Huckabee supporters are suspicious of the claims that delegates are gravitating toward McCain. The press keeps saying this to explain why McCain is getting so many votes, but I can't find much support locally for McCain either.

One of the founder's of Huck's Army says that Ron Paul would probably be his second choice. So no... there really isn't much tension between us like there used to be. (If you recall, a lot of us liked Huck as a 2nd choice when McCain pulled ahead as well). And I'm quite sure that Huckabee had the 2nd largest grassroots. Ron Paul easily the first. Probably Obama in the #3 spot.

Huckabee supporters

uhh they banned me from their forums for just talking...

I wasn't even their pimping for ron Paul. They banned me just because I didn't "seem" like a true and blue Huckabee supporters and they suspected I was some sort of troll.

When you're on the Huckabee forums...it's so serious that it reminds me of church, which incidently is what they want the presidentcy to be about.

I know, they banned me too. After one post I had "disruptive behavior."

I was banned too. But that's Huck's Army and they only wanted people talking Huckabee. This F3 place is different and they can't ban you unless you attack or bash people.

I tend to agree. I may start bringing him up to the other state delegates. Any supporters I find, I will then offer them a better alternative to McCain.

Careful about generalization

First it is important to distinguish between Mike Huckabee's supporters and Mike Huckabee. I truly believe that Mike Huckabee is a tool of the establishment and was used by them to ensure John McCain's nomination. (He was the ideal Romney-killer, played the "Mormon card" to perfection, and will probably be rewarded with the vice presidential nomination.)

That being said, however, I believe that many if not most of his supporters have great potential for becoming "Ron Paul Republicans".
Most people do not appreciate the fact that the supporters of Huckabee were attracted by a few very simple things; his conservative stance on social issues, fundamental Christian credentials, and his charisma/ready humor.

Frankly, all of these things are fairly irrelevant one comes to the liberty movement. Otherwise, most of these people are ripe for RP's message, and this has been reflected in the response we have had working as delegates in Iowa. It is a shame that our campaign was not able to get to these voters first, but you can blame the well-orchestrated MSM campaign prior to the Iowa caucuses for that.

Thanks for the link, I think those boards might be a good resource for some of the Christians here who've felt marginalized.

I'm glad you're promoting BJ Lawson, we can cooperate on a lot of these types of things. I love it that we can agree on some things. Oh, and don't forget, BJ has a mass donation day on 4/19/08--4 days away!

F3 doesn't support B.J. Lawson. Well they haven't supported anyone yet. But some people there do support B.J. already.

I think that a coalition is a good idea on certain platforms that have already been mentioned. I do have reservations in that the Christians do outnumber us and are a huge voting block. What's to keep them from using us (distracting us) then later outnumbering us to put folks in office who are Huckabee clones and not RP freedom lovers?

I love our Christians here. I do and I know many RP Christians believe in freedom like every other Paulite. However, the Christian base itself is largely responsible for spearheading the movement that got us where we are now. They paved the way for the neocons, even rolled out the red carpet. What's to stop them from using us? Their ultimate loyalty is to their faith, ours to our country. The two aren't always in sync.

I'm not sure why you're refering to them as "the Christians" considering religious beliefs are not exclusive to one group and that most of the people here are Christians as well.

The person who posted the link to that message board is promoting BJ, and I think that's a good thing. That's all I'm sayin'.

True. Maybe I didn't word myself well. I tried to distinguish between the Christian support of Huckabee vs. the support of RP which includes a diverse group. Am I wrong in saying that his strength was largely in his Christian base (not that all Christians support him)? My fear is that same base will grow but its direction won't be the same as ours. Utlimately, we could find ourselves, within that coalition, in much the same position we are in now in the Republican party. Outnumbered and choosing between candidates (like Huckabee 1 and Huckabee 2) we don't truly support.

I'm not trying to knock your efforts. I'm intrigued actually. I just have concerns and I think they're valid. :D

There are a lot of Christians who have seen how their "Contract with America" successes have done more to enable the neocons than to further the real agenda and are newly, dare I say "born again?", let's say receptive to the idea that the separation of church and state is good. These people are naturals for us, but are as likely as anyone to believe the MSM's claim that their votes won't count if they vote their true consciences and instead throw them away on Obama.

These people we need to reach. Obama's developing a talent for sticking his foot in his mouth. So, we have hope there.

There are also so-called Christians who would use Christianity to enrich and/or empower themselves. A pox on them.

Establishment candidates and their supporters, don't get no sympathy from me.
Wake up, and if cognitive dissonance is your friend.

Hit the road, and don't you come back...

Today, Mike Huckabee started up "HUCK-PAC, which will enable us to help Senator McCain become our next President, and to assist conservative, pro-life and pro-family candidates to Senate and House seats. The website will not only preserve our online community, but enlarge it and encourage it to be a force for freedom, faith, and family!"
