How is this possible? Google ‘buy twitter followers’ and you will see. The sites which offer this service actually do deliver the followers. It will add thousands of fake accounts that it has created in a matter of days and in some cases, a matter of hours. If you look at the chart above, you will see this is exactly what happened.

The same thing happened at the same time. As you can see in the chart above, Mitt had seen a steady rise in the number of Facebook likes, then, magically on August 1st a spike. At the same time, Romney set the lofty goal of reaching 3 million Facebook likes. Propaganda for the digital age – purchased popularity.

It's entirely possible Romney was buying likes, but whoever made that website has a very low IQ. It's politics. Some days big events happen and politicians will get 100+ times as many new likes in a single day. Look at some on Ron's like history that should be in the first few pages of this thread....some days he gets astronomical amounts (does well in a debate for example)

Actually facebook likes did correlate heavily with debate and media appearances. Now that being said you also have to say the right things when given that platform. If you're keyed in on public sentiment, which the Pauls clearly are, then your likes go through through the roof. The public is light-years ahead of politicians on many things and the only politicians seemingly able to tap into that are the Pauls. Now give Rand the prominence and spotlight of a national debate stage and you're going to see tidal waves of people coming our way.

Gingrich did that with twitter too. I think it has become pretty common. When you see Romney's page come down in rolling chunks with minimal variation despite whatever is or isn't going on, it seems they 'ran out' of their funding for those accounts. I suspect those who fake it do it by buying chunks on a rolling basis to begin with varying in the 5Ks, 10Ks or whatever, to 'gradually ' build an appearance of popularity, then when the campaign starts people look and, gee! How popular they are!

I remember watching facebook at the debates or at key actions by various candidates during the campaign, and the real ones surged or fell based on things you could identify in the news -- a debate performance, a scandal, a drop in the polls..... those that just seemed to keep crunching despite what happened in real life, I always suspected were fake. It's pretty common now, I guess.

Ron's always surged with events though!
