One, Big Beautiful Bill (The Mega-Bill)

I think it's probably a smart PR strategy for Elon Musk to say he is against the tax cuts bill since he is the richest man.

He especially doesn't like the fact that the solar credits are stripped out.

Shots fired...

Except, Elon Musk is merely appealing to the people in order to gain trust. He has his nefarious motives for doing so, such as his [China style] "Everything App" and the collection of every persons data.

The administration’s efforts to compile data began under Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency initiative, which sought Americans’ personal data from multiple agencies including the IRS, the SSA, Selective Service, Medicare, and many others.

I just find it sadly hilarious that so many here complain so bitterly and often about this, yet they voted for it. They helped to empower the “Big Beautiful” psychopath who’s working so hard to make it happen. NOW they complain? And most of them spent a great deal of time and energy ridiculing and attacking the people who warned them against it.

And they wonder why liberty never actually wins?

It tells you something.

Since we both know what the only real alternative is, and we both know that nobody has the stomach for that, what more can be done?

I'll continue to hold their feet to the fire as much as I can.

I'm open to other suggestions, brother.

It's also interesting to note that Congress has shelved the DOGE spending cut vote.

Bull. Shit.

I remember making the suggestion during the campaign. Grow a brain. Grow a spine. Don't get caught up in, "Oh, gawd, brainwashed single mothers are taking their children to fagggots to be abused so Mr. Trump sir pleeeeease throw us a bone and make it stooooop!!" Don't settle for a slightly more comfortable cage. Hold out for a genuine solution. Even if it means destroying the beloved "two party" "system".

We don't know that the groundswell couldn't have happened if those of us presumably smart enough to resist the lure of the Trumpy Bear. If we had stood firm, we'd know.

You were in no way open to that suggestion. In no way. You say you are now, but one, I doubt it because you don't even seem to remember it, and two, it's too goddamned late. The iceberg is already holing the hull.

Open to goddamned suggestions. I wish I could still laugh at that. Brother.

And what is that genuine solution?

And what is that genuine solution?

Pull our heads out of the GOP's ass and try something that might actually help.

In other words, stand for something and stop giving the people "with no stomach for" real solutions an excuse to try the same shit again expecting a different result.

You remember. You really do. Why are you asking?

The alternatives have always been there. It's up to us to make them viable. But when the time comes, some of us sit up and beg to be thrown a bone instead.
You realize how pathetic this sounds, right?

We couldn't even get a viable alternative in the damned Libertarian party! And you want us to leap in the pool from 100 ft before you fill it with water?!

Look, I know the lesser of two evils is still evil, but it's also lesser. We were going to get increased spending regardless of who the President was.

We will never get better until we demand better. We will never reclaim our principles until we stand on our principles.

The LP nominated a guaranteed loser because most of the delegates gave up and merely begged the GOP for a bone. And that happened because too many people gave up on standing on principle. You made a groundswell impossible, not me.

Pathetic is settling for Trump because existential exigencies and then muttering about how he's betraying the shit out of you.

More of that utopian thinking. In the real world life is about trade-offs. Our options were Bad, Worse, and Non-existent. And you wanted Non-existent.

The unconstrained vision in a nutshell.

More of that utopian thinking.

Like Thomas Jefferson's? How many Tories said those guys couldn't beat a superpower?

Our principles are only worthless because millions celebrate election season by throwing them out the window.

You reject the unconstrained vision. Congratulations. We're constrained. We were semi-unconstrained kids, but our grandchildren will never have that experience because exigency.

Dude, you have to fill the pool before you're going to get anyone to jump. In Jefferson's time, the pool was filled enough to allow the leap to happen. Even then, there were trade-offs.

So, maybe you should focus your energies on filling the pool rather than the whining that people are still choosing the least bad options they have. You profess to be a libertarian with all these principles, and yet you constantly bitch about people making different choices than you want them to! How very noble of you.

At least with this "Bad" option, we have the opportunity to fight another day. The "Worse" option would likely have put the nail in the coffin with increased censorship of anything that went against the regime narrative - making filling that pool impossible.
