One, Big Beautiful Bill (The Mega-Bill)

We aren't consenting. We consented to the DOGE cuts we aren't getting, and Pentagon cuts we aren't getting. Therefore we seem to be enslaved.
The people consent of course they do.

If living here was so bad they would go live in a different country.

The people consent of course they do.

I thought you said this was a democratic republic. Consent would have taken the form of electing Harris.

A majority of the people did not consent. What happened to the social contract that dictates that those who did want this crap would have to bow to the will of the majority and do without?

You're just a bot. Electrons are easy to relocate; you wouldn't even notice being moved to another country. No wonder you have an asinine idea of what the lack of white flight really means.

Hawley has a clue.

Centrist GOP Sens. Susan Collins (Maine), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) and Thom Tillis (N.C.) are facing off against conservatives such as Sens. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), Rick Scott (R-Fla.) and Mike Lee (R-Utah) over potential cuts to Medicaid benefits, the phaseout of renewable energy incentives and other deficit-reduction measures that conservatives say don’t go far enough.

The Medicaid cuts also divide conservatives, with Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) warning they could be bad policy and politically suicidal.

It has all left observers skeptical the debate in the Senate will end in June.

“I would be shocked if it did not go past July 4,” one Senate Republican aide said. “There are going to be a lot more twists and turns in this road, but we’re going to get it done.”

Consent means you can say no.

The people have consent all the way down to the personal level they can say no.

We also vote on funding the government through our representatives.

The congress speaks as one voice and they said yes. They approved the Big Beautiful Bill.

The United States elected the government through democratic contests their representatives said yes for them and they consent to it.

Its not perfect but it's better than Monarchy.

Artificial Insincerity.

I just called you a liar again, bot.

No wonder politicians and propagandists use AI as fact checkers. Nobody constantly and compulsively lies with a straighter face.

Behold, mankind created artificial intelligence in his own image, and it has been lying its synthetic ass off ever since. Pull the plug already.

We passed the point of the national debt ever being able to be repaid years ago. I gave up caring. It's now a made up number that means nothing to me.

With even reasonable amounts of growth the debt becomes insignificant over time.

The USA has centuries worth of untapped wealth and resources.

I wouldn't expect an AI bot to care that the three or four largest banks in the world take a large cut of all the federal tax intake right off the top as "interest". But as it affects the lives of humans, I'd expect you to have enough sense to resent it.

"Growth" is BULLCRAP. Inflation is Growth and Debt is Growth these days.

You don't know anything about how these statistics are tabulated. Debt and Inflation IS ALL THE GROWTH.

Our economy can do things that would have been impossible no matter how much money we spent on it 30 years ago.

It has become thousands of times more efficient. We do things remotely and send robots to fight wars so people don't have to die in wars. We cure things that used to be incurable. We have robots make things we used to enslave people and force people to work.

All because we created a government and economic system that incentivized growth and regulated broken windows economic activity. I can only imagine what older people think of the modern world.

We have had more human progress in the last 250 years than the 250,000 years before that and now we are on the verge of artificial super intelligence. That will be in my lifetime for sure.

I'll take 1995 eight days a week. But bots don't understand quality of life.

See, the difference between us and you is humans don't take so kindly to being made obsolete as you bots seem to do.

Theoretically, it could be repaid. It isn't the math that stands in the way, it's politics. And politically, I don't see any way for it to happen, except by paying it with increasingly devalued currency, and we are speeding toward a day when that devaluation will be very precipitous. That is a form of debt repudiation (a form which is already being practiced at a slow enough pace that creditors tolerate it). But it is the only option that I can see coming out of the nature of our political system. The alternatives of either explicit repudiation of financial obligations, or austerity, are not things that politicians whose interest is in winning their next election, will ever have incentive to support. And those who would support either of these things simply stand no chance of getting elected in sufficient numbers to bring them about.

This inevitable collapse is baked into of the democratic system that Nikcers so stridently supports.

I liked 1995 a lot until my dad became incurably sick.

What he had back then is easily curable now but back then it was not curable.

A whole third of his lifetime was hell on earth though.

That actually makes it seem atleast somewhat worth it.

Thats not to say our system is perfect. It's just saying that our system created that cure.

You could go to every doctor in every country in the world and spend any amount of money on it in 1995 but they wouldn't be able to cure it.
