So I have 900+ flyers that I'd like to get out by Sunday. (it advertises a meeting for Ron Paul for our county).

My county has one large shopping area with many big chain stores, lots of small stores, resteraunts, movies, a casino, and more.

The number of cars there would probably allow me to get ALL of my flyers out.

I've heard the suggestion that I contact the meetup group... but I'm about the only one active in my county.

I will listen to other suggestions as well...

The flyer is an information sheet. At the bottom is mention of our Sunday meeting, and a Gmail address I created for our group.

Should I? Or should I do something else?

OK on a public street (but check your local towns laws first as you never know what strange things might be on the books)

Not OK on private property like a shopping mall parking lot.

THIS. We promote a candidate who champions private property rights, the last thing we want to do is violate them.

It depends on your local ordinances/laws.

I doubt you will get much turnout from randomly flyering, but every technique is worth testing if you don't already have an effective one.

More effective is to get a list of registered voters from your state or county board of election.. and lit drop on the registered voters.

Excellent point. Turnout for primaries is way less than 10% of the population. So statistically 90% of the flyers you put out there will be on the windshields of people that do not vote.

We've been trying to get a list of registered voters for a while... but people are shuffling their feet.

We had 2 meetings in a row where basically we all said "wait til next week" to get the list.

Now the deadline to register Republican is upon us... Feb 17th.

So it would be wrong to be standing on private property while putting flyers (aka 'garbage' to 90% of us) on other people's private property?

I do it a lot when my high school has basketball games. I just put them on the opposing fans cars. I'll never see them again but I got out the vote :)

That 10% of the voting stat is why I'm shying away from going door to door.

If I get a 1% return on the flyers, it will have been worth it to me.

Trying to start a group in the county from almost scratch.

I consider flyers on windshields to be violative of another's property, and sometimes they make people think they got a ticket when they first see it. It always annoys me.

I personally hate it when I have crap on my windshield.

Both these are very good points, and you frequently see those things end up getting littered too. It's one thing to hand someone a flier, there's a level of consent there, but pamphlets on windows and doors is the real-world equivalent of spam.

Spam gets a harsh name.

If you have the money... they are called commercials.

If you don't have the money... it's called spam.

To start my own web site... I'm sure I put my message in a few places where some people didn't like it.

I think we may try to tag team door to door.

I know a lot of people will bitch at you on the forums about private property and some retarded spiel about vandalism but I say f*** it..just do it...we need to organize for the win...

We are the grassroots, we do whatever it takes...I get tons of flyers on my car for random crap..I seriously don't even mind it and neither does anybody I know...its just another thing and they will choose if they want to read it or not.

I have a question: I've never owned a car with an alarm. Is there a risk of triggering the alarm by putting a flyer under the wiper? Now THAT would be embarrassing.

Wyandotte County of Kansas.

I'm not very involved in the political side of things, but I'm told we can't have the list until we have a State Chairman? That's where the feet shuffling is happening.

Flyers on wind shields are INCREDIBLY annoying!

I'm sorry, but I hate em. I don't want people touching my precious car - Sasha!!

Well be that as it may, there's a certain level of expectation when you open your mailbox, turn on your TV, surf the internet, or even to a lesser extent open your email box that you're going to have a multitude of advertisements for various businesses and causes. But as you can see from this thread, even moreso than someone intruding their email box by obtaining the address without their consent, people don't tend to appreciate the message when they have a bunch of pamphlets on their car every time they leave the house.

Personally, I can't stand all the waste of paper I get in the mail, and so if I don't consent to grab it out of your hand, I don't want you leaving what is most likely trash (which is usually one's first thought before they even read it).
