Well, how the heck does ANYONE get elected to the job then? No one has prior experience doing THAT job.
People get promoted all the time to a job which they have never before held. Look into any workplace. Their experience matters because even if they've never held the job, their experience gives us insight into their potential to successfully execute the job.
I find it really strange that people would vote for someone (Barr) as President who has virtually ZERO experience in an Administrative or Executive job -- grandstanding on social issues is all fine and well for a demagogic legislator -- but running a country requires at least a LITTLE experience.
But lucky us, the public considers house legislative experience as above the line to qualify for the position. That's the beauty of looking at this strategically. In the case of the POTUS race, the candidate need not have experience that actually prepares him for the office. He need only have experience that the public believes he needs to have. Perception trumps reality.
