I was too. I am sure that a lot of others were hoping for that line of questioning as well.

I'm sure his campaign will use the hits to bolster his popularity rating.

The first thing I thought was: "How did Luntz know that person was a Trump supporter?".

The second thing I thought was: "The person might have been wearing a Trump shirt or a MAGA cap or some such token, or shouting 'Trump for President!', or exhibiting any of many other possible indications".

Why "controlled opposition" narratives are problematic, reason #1 [1]: they're completely impervious to falsification.

They can always explain everything. "Controlled opposition" can always account for X - or for the negation of X. If X can somehow be interpreted as being in support of the "controllers" - well, then, there you go: "controlled opposition". But if X can somehow be interpreted as being in "opposition" to the controllers, then it can simply be identified as camouflage for the pretense - and there you go: "controlled opposition", again.

Thus, any event can always be interpreted as affirmative "evidence" (e.g., "Frank Luntz identified [2] a stranger as a Trump supporter [...] thus, there is a[nother] reason to think Trump is 'controlled opposition'").



[1] No other reasons are really needed.

[2] Perhaps correctly, and maybe with good reason (see the above-mentioned "second thing").

Fox News recently held a debate for the Republican candidates for President in 2024. POTUS Donald Trump was not in attendance, but Vivek Ramaswamy, former VP Mike Pence, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and other more irrelevant candidates showed up. But Trump showing up on X, aka Twitter, with Tucker Carlson proves how irrelevant Fox News is to actual conservative voters.
