This is the bear minimum you can count, I deleted every donation from a military department, people that work for veritiss llc in afghanistan but most likely not as a soldier, people educating military families overseas, National guard donations, Coast guard donations, donations from the reserves and donations from US NAVY - separated whatever that means. Also the donations from air force bases, from fleet support, from the corps of engineers and I STILL GET WIDE OVER 60000.

Contributions to Ron Paul 2011 3rd Quarter WITHOUT Reserve, National Guard, and Coast Guard

ACTIVE DUTY CONTRIBUTIONS 3rd QUARTER

You skipped people who put MILITARY and you skipped the coast guard. Also separated means no longer in the military.

Here are my updated totals. Three times through the reports and I did the math twice.

Ok so I went back through a third time. If they listed Dept. of Defense with a branch of the military I counted it or if they listed Dept. of (branch of service). Otherwise I did not. I think this is the fairest assumption to make. Their a A LOT of DOD employees who are NOT military. So someone simply putting DOD as employer does not in anyway signify that even ever served a day in the military.

The reserves/National Guard are NOT active duty UNLESS they are currently called up. Only a small % is usually on active duty at any given time and we would have no way of knowing if this was the case or not. So I added them in a separate category.
These are my totals after three separate tallies.

Everyone else.........$64,885.15
Obama..................$39,828.15
All Republicans........$25,057

The Coast Guard should absolutely be counted as they are considered active duty military and have the same pay rates as the other branches.

combine these with the other numbers and see what we got for the whole election so far. it should look real good all added up as we pull farther and farther away as the year goes on on a nice big fat pie graph.

I think we should prepare a press release and have one of our more prominent bloggers make a post about it. Send it off to Politifact.com and see if they'll verify our numbers. I'm sure it would be very interesting if it's turning out Ron Paul doubled all GOP and Obama combined. That should be something, as a base, we refuse to let go unreported.

My numbers were definitely no where near 75k.

Is there any way you could list each data point you used to get to that total? We should have this any way in case it is disputed by the media.

Data!!!!

I did a quick look through the data, and came up with this.
Data here.
It's interesting how only Ron Paul & Obama get any marine donations. And Obama does, only because he gets so much money.

I would not trust my life with the numbers above, but they are fairly close.
Also, I did not include any coast guard (or anything other than what it says on the side).
I made a piechart of the totals here:

I think it would awesome if someone did other categories too. Like percentages of banks that donate to candidates... percentage of car companies that donate... etc, etc, and people can really get a good idea on the type of individuals that support Ron Paul. I think we can use this information to our advantage... it will show that the people, not the companies are for Ron Paul.

Ok there are my numbers, truth is every time I add them I get a different number! Usually around 71k. I have combed through the reports four times now and am happy with my entries. I just can't get them to consistently add up even when I use the same list. I think maybe my computer is broken....
