Official Q3 Military Donations Thread (Volunteers Needed)

Guard and Reserve is NOT considered active duty.

Guard and reserve aren't in the technical sense, but they still train and still deploy. And then you can be on active reserves. This number should DEFINITELY be included because reserve often deploy more than their active duty counterparts, so they are just as in tune, if not moreso as far as the wars are concerned.

If anyone has some extra time, we could really use an extra pair of eyes to comb through the Obama numbers. There's so many donors there, that it's hard to be sure if we got them all. Also, there's a dispute about whether Reserve is considered active duty or not, so we're setting that one aside for now.

I've broken down Obama's numbers that were provided into another thread into active duty and retired vet.

EDIT: These aren't my original findings. Searching through the Obama number's, I'm finding additional ones. I will post them below...

Army National Guard: $400

Retired US Army: $125

US Army: $2,170

US ARMY $9,026.15

Sigh... there seems to be a ton of Obama's donations that we're missing. This will take a while, not sure if I can do it alone.

Alright, no worries. That does seem weird that the FEC would do that. Does this mean we need to go through our numbers for the other candidates again, too? That would kind of suck, but we do need to be sure.

Yeah, its best to just start over and go threw every candidate, other wise you can't trust the numbers. Don't worry it doesn't take that long, just really boring :D

Hey I am active duty military. I have also worked with the campaign in the past doing veteran stuff from time to time.

My .02 cents. If someone puts retired or veteran that is NOT active duty. If they put reserve as their occupation or employer, chances are they are currently on active status, or else they would put plumber or electrician or w/e.

So when you add them up include people who put army/air force/marine/ navy reserve who put that as their employer or occupation. do NOT include people who put retired or veteran.

FYI I always put occupation: military employer: US Army.

Also I would be willing to help with this tomorrow and sunday.

My prediction is RP will have over 100k from military sources.

That would be fantastic. The big task is probably going to be going through Ron's numbers, which is actually a good thing, because that means his fundraising is strong. Keep up the good work!

I am doing Paul at this very moment.. Would Department of Army, The Air Force, Navy, etc. count?

Edit: Someone from the Federal Reserve donated to Paul.
Another nice one is 'I fired them!'

Do you guys actually go through the whole thing manually? I just put the whole thing into a spreadsheet, searched for every string I could think of that qualifies as active duty military, and totaled them. I came up with $62,646.98. I may have missed some, though.

A couple military magazines ran stories on him this quarter. That probably helped out a lot. Can't wait to see the numbers.
