Oh, quick question for O's fans about Luke Scott. We picked him up this year, somewhat risky signing considering his shoulder surgery at the end of 2011 season. He seems to be progressing fine from that, has some pretty high goals. I have heard the O's didn't sing him because of his outspokenness may have been considered a distraction.

I am reading that he is in to politics, right-winger neo con type, but outspoken. Anything you'd like to say about Luke Scott, the opening day Rays DH?

I can't say for sure why he was allowed to walk but his comments about Obama likely do have a lot to do with it. Peter Angelos (owner of the Orioles) is said to be a leftist with close ties to Castro so that should be an indication of where he is politically. With Scott you are getting someone who is mediocre at best defensively and a powerhouse offensively. Unfortunately, in his entire tenure in Baltimore he was as streaky as you can get. There are times when it appears he cannot hit the broadside of a barn and others when everything he touches goes over a fence. You will especially like him against the Tigers who he has historically done very well against and when you guys come to Baltimore you will glad to have him as he is a monster in Camden Yards. Politically he is a very outspoken right winger and I have it on good authority through a friend who is a sports journalist that Luke is a fan of Ron Paul. I am not sure how strong that support is though. To give you an idea of who you have politically.. When he first got to Baltimore his routine was showing up with a gun attached to his hip and walking around the clubhouse with it attached. He also considers many of the more modern workouts to be "girly" and instead spends his offseason taking batting practice by cutting down trees with an ax.

Awesome, he won't come near the field in a Rays Uni except for turning the base paths. Apparently he showed up in the Rays club house with couple of SPEARS! wtf spears? lol
 
Way to start the season for the Rays, Carlos Pena Rocks a grand slam in the first inning off CC Sabathia. Longo adds another homer in a 3-3 effort including two walks to reach base 5 times. Rays come from behind in the 9th against the venerable fire man Mariano Rivera. Rays walk off with another Carlos Pena blast who finished with 5 rbi's. Awesome start to a highly anticipate Rays season.

Now the Rays 2nd of Ace of a starting rotation full of aces, David Price looks to build on the first win of the season later tonight at the Trop. The Rays started this season where they left off 2011, defeating the Bombers in dramatic fashion. The Rays now have won 5 straight versus the Yankees and look to be gearing up for another epic run at the post season with visions of once again dethroning the towering giant of the east.
 
And the Rays follow up with more domination of the Yankees pitchers. 1 Upping the 7 Run effort in yesterday afternoons nail biter, the Rays scattered 10 hits and scored 8 runs backed by a remarkable 3 RBI efforts from Matt Joyce 2-3 and a dinger and DH Luke Scott 3-4. Interestingly, Rays skipper Joe Madden decided to slot Joyce in the cleanup spot, despite Joyce's 0-4 4 strike out effort the day before. Maddon's uncanny and unconventional wisdom continues to pay off for the Rays, as does the solid effort of the bullpen in relief. The only hiccup coming in the 9th when new to the pen reliever Lueke served up a 3 run blast from Swisher. It was too little too late for the Yankees who must now face the next Rays Ace Jeremy Hellboy Hellickson.

Following up his first complete season as a major league pitcher, the cool hard throwing righty looks to sweep the Yanks out of the Trop and begin a new season to improve on his 2011 13-10 2.95 ERA effort.

The Rays have shown they can put up runs early and often, and if the first two games are any indication, don't expect the Rays to stop scoring with the likes of Phil Hughes taking the mound. Today's matchup could see a big shift in the early power struggle in the East.

Amazing start to season for the Rays, who need to set the tone before going on what looks to be a grueling early road trip test with sets against detroit, boston, and toronto.

sweep.

Jeremy Hellickson throws 8 2/3 shutout innings. Carlos Pena raps another homer. Rays send the Yanks home winless after the first series. Go Rays@@!

How bout dem O's.. Jason Hammel took a no hitter into the 8th and we ended up sweeping the Twins. Yankees come to town tomorrow.. I hope we can take at least 2 of 3.
