The Green Party is calling for a inquiry into the death of SAS soldier Leon Smith in the Afghanistan province of Wardak after repeated claims New Zealand troops were caught up in a domestic dispute.
Dam said the Governor told her troops operated without advice or intelligence from his administration, and said Afghanistan's Peace Council believed a rival family may have told authorities the family were insurgents.
Lance Corporal Leon Smith died on Wednesday after being shot in the head during a raid on a compound in Wardak, southwest of the Afghan capital Kabul.

From next year, U.S. troops and aircraft will operate out of the tropical city of Darwin, only 820 kms (500 miles) from Indonesia, able to respond quickly to any humanitarian and security issues in Southeast Asia, where disputes over sovereignty of the South China Sea are causing rising tensions.
"It is appropriate for us to make sure...that the security architecture for the region is updated for the 21st century and this initiative is going to allow us to do that," Obama said.
