NYT - There Is No Good Reason You Should Have to Be a Citizen to Vote

The whole concept of letting foreign citizens vote in U.S. elections is absurd. I wonder if the lefties would be ok with letting Russians vote here too.

The entire objective behind the left’s attempts to expand the vote is to add new voters who are naive or easily manipulated. Voters who will vote for them. They would be violently opposed to any new voters if they believed they would not vote in the left’s favor.

Be VERY CAREFUL with statements like that, because your reaction is expected, and used against you.

I'm more careful than you, because you still cling to the form of government that brought us to this state.

And what form of government is that?

We have not really had control of our government since... 1913...

I'd hate to be the guy who finally immigrated to America from Ishkabibble only to have Civil War 2.0 break out the next day.

Biden admin just gave a year and half extension on TPS for Venezuelans.

Estimates are that 6 million displaced Hugo Chavez invaders in Central America will take advantage of Uncle Joe's treason and head on in.

At this point I believe the citizens would be better served if only people who pay more tax than they receive , property and or business owners were voters. That may include some non citizens but probably less than have been getting votes counted in large cities for the past two decades.

Someday in the future we will revert to monarchy or have a system of laws which doesn't require representative elections.
It's not working out.

Yup. It's a burden I've been assiduously avoiding, but I may soon need to step up and claim my birthright, as Supreme Ruler of America

Once again, I ask, was it not our very form of government that MADE the above alteration POSSIBLE and EFFECTIVE?

It was, and is, and shall continue to be.

consider: "The Plan" in 1912 as leaked by FDR's son-in-law.

The one we have right now, and what we have had for the last many years is NOT the form of government known as a Republic. The name is nothing but a bait and switch so we "like" communism, and "hate" Republics. Another thing for sure this is NOT a government of the people, by the people, and for the people.

I agree, and what made it possible to happen?
The Democratic Republic did.

What do you want in place of it?

There are some better alternatives worth trying. It depends upon which would be most willingly tried.
It would take a long time to go in-depth and derail this thread, though.
It could be done with amendments if the preference is to keep the Union and Constitution.

Well, me, I would rather we try going back to a Constitutional Republic. It worked before up until a certain President said the following:

“I am a most unhappy man. I have unwittingly ruined my country. A great industrial nation is controlled by its system of credit. Our system of credit is concentrated. The growth of the nation, therefore, and all our activities are in the hands of a few men. We have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated governments in the civilized world. No longer a government by free opinion, no longer a government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a government by the opinion and duress of a small group of dominant men.”

That is what corrupted our country. That was the first slit in our wrists that has caused us to bleed out. Thats when our deep infection really started. So no, I am not willing to even try Communism or ANY other form government.

1913. What an glorious year for Big Gov. Federal Reserve Act and the Revenue Act all in one swell foop.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that snowball is a monarchist.

Yes, although I'm willing to discuss other options including secession.
I realize most Americans wouldn't want to consider going back to monarchy.
I don't think we can keep the representative political formats, constant elections and new lawmaking regime.
It's just going to keep moving further into degredation and distress.

If someone wants to start a big thread on this, lmk.
