I am against government teaching math and Spanish as well, as I'm sure I could find someone better to do the job with the taxes I pay. But seeing as how 6*7=42 and "me llamo kuckfeynes" don't really require any great moral judgments to teach effectively, that doesn't really bother me. What does bother me are science/religion controversies and history/politics controversies. There will never be consent on these issues, so it's stupid to try to force people to fund it homogeneously. My history teachers gave me a bunch of stuff that made liberals look good and conservatives look bad and asked us to draw our own conclusions. And now I get to pay for that same disservice for a new generation... Great.
