Mandatory Sex Ed Details May Be Too Racy for Parents: Report
The lessons are expected to begin next spring.

NBC New York
Oct 24, 2011

Details about the new sex education curriculum in New York City public schools are out -- and some are concerned the lessons are too racy.

The New York Post obtained workbooks that will be used for the new recommended curriculum, which begins in middle schools and high schools around the city next spring. Parents, they say, may be shocked by details of the work.

Middle school students will be assigned "risk cards" that rate the safety of different activities, the paper says, from French kissing to oral sex.

The workbooks for older students direct them to a website run by Columbia University, which explores topics such as sexual positions, porn stars, and bestiality. The lessons explain risky sexual behavior and suggest students go to stores to jot condom brands and prices.

The irony, of course, is that while you are complaining they are actually discouraging kids from these activities.

Abstinence education fails

research indicates teens who take abstinence pledges are more likely to engage in other types of risky sexual behavior, such as oral and anal sex. The data seems to back up the previous study showing students who signed abstinence pledges were equally as likely to contract sexually transmitted diseases as other students.

...

students in 29 high schools become increasingly sexually active following these courses.

This is the kind of thing that really makes me not want to have kids.

What chance at happiness could they possibly have in a society of peers brainwashed with attitudes like these?

Aww, don't be discouraged. Children are our legacy. If you teach your children well, they will learn to fight like us! :)

Just don't put them in a government school and pick a community of like-minded folks in which to live. :) (I don't have kids, this is JMHO)

Abstinence education fails

What we're against is the state mandating certain curricula, whether it be pro-sex indoctrination or abstinence only. It doesn't matter which one it is, they both rob the parents of their role in dealing with this subject. It is not the state's role to tell my children when, how and with whom they should be having sex with, that's a moral issue best dealt with inside the family.

I agree.

Um, sorry to burst your bubble, but no state education system tells students when to have sex, or with whom.

You are basing that assumption on zero evidence. Thus, you fail.

Of course they do, when they tell you that having gay sex is ok, when they make teenage sex seem acceptable and the norm.

Abstinence education fails

danno I agree with the majority of your posts, but this is a self contradictory statement.

You are saying:

1) The irony is they are teaching the kids abstinence.
2) Abstinence education fails.

And I would suggest that if the materials are as pornographic as is suggested, I think there is pretty good evidence why "abstinence" education fails.

"Kids, don't do this. OH, and never, ever try this one! Boys, please disregard the woody that this material is giving you - trust us, you DON'T WANT to do this stuff!"

Yeah, I can understand the "failure".

Hey ReillyM's back!

(Notice how statetheists are so insistent on an education monopoly? It is their lifeblood. Homeschooling=defiance)
