The stroke of midnight has just passed and the US government has turned into a pumpkin. Well, we wish. In fact the US government like some eternal zombie continues to walk the Earth even without the souls of taxpayers upon which to feast. And, even that isn't totally true. Like any zombie it still collects the blood of its victims (taxes) even while most of its zombie army (federal government employees) sit at home on a paid vacation... and most of their oppressive "services" continue on, like the CIA, NSA, ATF, DEA, Executive branch, police and more.
But just for our pleasure, let's imagine that all government in the US really shut down... which it will in the coming years as the US dollar collapses.

It's humorous in a sick sort of way how the gvmt is shutting down. Bunch of web sites are down. It takes effort to shut down a UNIX server. They generally need a reboot every year or two...

And the public land is closed to the public - you know, the people that own it? And why do we need feds there in order to access/use it in the first place? And if you trespassed onto your land, who would be there to arrest you or scare you off?

Pandemic of food poisoning in the local area. Turns out restaurants will serve contaminated food if not for the FDA. Parents were seen sending their children to labour camps because they can now get away with child labour. It's terrible in the DC area - government zombies roaming the streets, asking people to fill out paperwork... but the paperwork never ends!

cops are handing out tickets at grocery stores and at intersections. I asked why and got a ticket. They said it was for the children, because of budget cuts, they will starve to death now, and something must be done.

Just got back from running an errand. There were NO, I repeat NO, perfectly good roads being torn up and paved again. I almost got lost because I didn't have any detour signs to follow .
