But NOTE the order of how they are reported!

In the GOP contest to challenge Obama, former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney continues to lead the field, at 24%, but a potential candidate who hasn't entered the race yet is in second place.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who has been exploring a presidential campaign, ranks behind Romney at 17%. Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann, who like Perry appeals to many Tea Party supporters and Christian evangelicals, is fourth at 13%.

In third place is Texas Rep. Ron Paul, at 14%.
No other Republican candidate breaks into double digits. Former House speaker Newt Gingrich is at 7%, businessman Herman Cain at 4%, former Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty at 3%, former Utah governor Jon Huntsman at 2%, and former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum at 1%.

Perry narrowly leads Romney among Tea Party supporters, 23% to 22%. Bachmann claims 19% of members of the Tea Party movement.
The poll of 1,521 adults, taken Thursday through Sunday, has a margin of error of +/-4 percentage points.

Poll: Will anti-Congress mood cause another 'wave' election?

You can tell by the wording and paragraph structure it really pains them to have to mention Ron Paul.

LOL! These people have no idea what else to do. They are running out of ideas. Ron Paul will win!

...and the average USA Today reader is probably dumb enough to fall for it

More great news!

Now Ron Paul is polling in third place in Iowa AND nationally.

This is friggin huge. I can't believe that most of the comments on this thread are about USA Today slighting Ron, and not that he has emerged nationally within 9 points of mittens and third place. 16% in Iowa was great news, but I had wondered how long it would take Ron to poll similar numbers nationally. I just got my answer: NO TIME!

This is friggin huge. I can't believe that every comment on this thread is about USA Today slighting Ron, and no one seems to care that he has emerged nationally within 9 points of mittens and third place. 16% in Iowa was great news, but I had wondered how long it would take Ron to poll similar numbers nationally. I dont know about others, but Im not surprised. This is how I thought it would go. We will be around 20% in another 3 months.

In a morbid sense, the economy is 'coming our way'.... or doing what Ron predicted if they didn't shape up.

Wake up call time.

How did Perry go from 12 to 13%?

Maybe rounding?

Part of Bachmann's drop, I expect, from people still not doing their homework.

i'm ready for Perry to jump in so we can start breaking him down, and begin our ascent into the top 2. Until Perry is vetted we will hover around 3rd place.

P.S. i wonder what effect the TV ads had on the campaign?

You're right Anaconda, but sometimes its just so infuriating that when its our candidate they just can't report the numbers the same way they would if it was the "establishment" candidate. Ron's polling numbers are totally awesome and there is a real chance he can sweep this thing away. I'm cautiously optimistic about Ames. I'm nearly certain he'll place at least 3rd but in my heart of hearts I want him in first and nothing but first lol.

I disagree. I read the article and it makes sense that they mentioned Bachmann directly after Perry, because it provided more continuity in the article. Bachmann has been very popular lately, and it made sense to mention her directly after Perry because the implication is that Perry is cutting in on her turf, and it more smoothly explains her lower numbers now. The very next sentence and paragraph boldly stated that Ron Paul was third with 14%.
