Hallo
Heres why I think Paul is doing poorly.
When I see him on the media, Paul no longer has the anger and the rage behind him fueling his cause. He really, to me, looks tired - and Im sure he is. Back on the Morton Downey show 20 years ago, Paul kicked everyones ass. His answers were extremely well worded, they were powerful, they were with force, and they got the message across. Case in point http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88REf0tjZHo . That is an absolutely AMAZING reply, you dont see those anymore. You see a tired old gentleman. If Paul was on those debates, showing emotion, showing rage at the hopeless state this country is in and how badly it needs to change, something will happen. If you calmly and quietly describe your views, no one listens or cares - they think the issue couldnt be that important. I want to see Paul ANGRILY basically tell everyone to WAKE THE FUCK UP (through his message, not verbatim lol). Bring up how the troops have supported Paul more than any other candidate, bring up the value of the dollar overseas, the price of oil before and after the Iraq war, etc etc etc.

His responses do not say what they need to. He HAS to let the people know each and every opportunity he has, EXACTLY what he stands for. For example.. on Leno yesterday when asked about Fox, he says "maybe they didnt want to hear the message".. but he doesnt say what that message is. He hints at it here and there through the interview but he does not mention clearly that 1) He wants to bring home the troops IMMEDIATELY, 2) He wants to abolish the income tax, etc.

On the debate I remember Paul was asked what to do about immigrants, and Paul talks about 'opening the door for the national id card, and we should be careful about that'. But he doesnt not state WHY we need to be careful about that.

Ron Paul supporters have a similar problem. Case in point, this billboard ad. It sucks.
RonPaulCampaign-ManchesterBoarDistance.jpg

"End the war in Iraq" -> should read "Bring our troops home now". Every candidate wants to end the war in iraq, the difference is how long and how much money they want to put into it first.
"Strengthen the Economy" -> again, no substance. What candidate doesnt want to do that. How about mentioning something about how much americans spend on food or healthcare vs the war overseas, and talking about using that money at HOME instead.
"Secure our borders" -> again, no substance. How does it distinguish Paul from others? It doesnt. Just imagine if that ad did not read "Ron Paul" but "Joe Republican" instead (which is actually what people see when they see that billboard). Would you take the message seriously? Would you go home and go to joerepublican2008.com? Hell no. Same with the Ron Paul blimp.

Paul is an amazing candidate. The problem is people are not being told WHY he is an amazing candidate. Yesterday I logged into myspace to find people from New Hampshire to ask them why they arent out voting for Paul. They did not know who he was, or why they should vote for him.

Again, the problem is his message is not going out. 70% of Americans are against the war, there are 5 candidates other than Paul that basically agree on everything and are pro war. Voters should be spreading their vote across these 5, making everyones %s lower and giving Paul a landslide victory (ie, imagine Obamas numbers if Edwards didnt exist) - but this is not whats happening. In other words: no one knows Paul/Pauls message.

My 2 cents. For the love of god, dont just hold up signs saying 'Ron Paul' on the news or on the streets.. hold up signs saying 'bring the troops home' also for example.

Probalem is.. you can't put Ron's positions on a billboard. They make to much sense.

If you put "Stop the FED from printing money"

They'd just be like lol because they are completely brainwashed.

And stop calling Iraq "an illegal war", nobody cares.

They do care how it affects their pocketbooks and how many sons and daughters die there.

And maybe point out how many billions (trillions) are being spent to fight a war against people running around in sandals carrying 20 (40?) year old weapons.

My drift is, the message needs more emotion, less reason.

As I pointed out in another thread, we had a HUGE discrepancy between % of male and female vote in NH.

Soooo, more emotion, less reason, smile more, Dr. Paul.

Someone send that Youtube link to Ron Paul so he can bring out the fire in him. He needs to act a little more like Mike Gravel.

Well, not that they are brainwashed, but how many people know much about that who weren't paying attention before they saw Ron Paul? If by brainwashed you mean "has never been explained to" then yes, most are brainwashed.

The most vulnerable Republican field in history and not a single attack ad from RP. The voters never got to hear the TRUTH about this cast of idiots and liars running against RP.

Millions of dollars wasted on warm and fuzzy "he's catchin on" crap ads. Just imagine if tons of ads attacking Huckster for pardoning rapists/murderers had been run...featuring the actual rape victim of Wayne Dumond, speaking in the ad..

Or how about ripping McCain a new asshole for his role in the infamous Keating Five bribery scandal 20 years ago (Google it)....or reminding voters of McCain's obsession with illegal immigrant amnesty...

Or how about anti-war ads with flag draped coffins..and amputee vets pleading for an end to the war while attacking Romney's 5 sons who arent serving.

Think of the impact...think of the controversy/publicity. That was how Buchanan won NH and he didnt have anywhere near the money or volunteers that we did.

The problem with you libertarians is that you're so hung up on intellectual ideology that you FAIL to see that it is EMOTION...not logic that moves the masses. And the most powerful emotion of all is ANGER.

Voters have plenty to be angry about but we did NOTHING to stoke their justifiable anger in our favor. Grassroots was even wimpier than HQ in this resepect.

But RP ( who I love and respect dearly) is too damn nice of a guy. And you all know what happenes to nice guys right?

RP had the right message, but he was the wrong man to deliver it. This is how the message needs to be delivered...Watch closely

4 minute clip.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlE5cTcYZbs

You points are good.. max's points, I think, are better.

Watch that video of the Scottish politician... basically says PISS OFF to the ESTABLISHMENT MEDIA PERSONALITY (re: the equivalent to our Hannity or russert, or anyone on fox etc.).

THESE PEOPLE HAVE THE BLOOD OF HUNDRED OF THOUSANDS OF INNOCENT CIVILIANS ON THEIR HANDS... these people ARE DESTROYING THE VALUE OF THE DOLLAR by CONTINUING TO PROP UP THE INDUSTRIAL-COMPLEXES..

Paul needs to get MAD.. he needs to take the money we sent him and POINT OUT THIS SHIT.. Something tells me that if he did this... we'd probably send him some more. Right now, I don't really feel like donating to a horribly run campaign that won't even attack, by name, the people who are destroying this nation.

The focus should be on MARKETING!

This was obvious in Iowa.

Only 10% even understand what he's talking about and the rest aren't about the read 1000 pages of background just to vote for RP.

This is the dumbed down America after all.

Bingo! Why the candidate and the campaign failed to see this from the beginning is beyond me. Paul is running for the GOP nomination, not for his Congressional seat, not as a third party candidate. He needs to look the part and act the part at all times and he fell way short. The message is only good if the salesman can deliver the message, and Paul has been unable to do so.

Constructive

I agree also and have written about these concerns.

I don't think people first even know the name and we have seen the
difficulties of having the "news" actually report on things.

I'm not sure about the anger but I am sure about Paul explaining the benefits
of what he wants to do.

The message is how good this is going to be by doing this.

We have had to deal with so much NOISE for years from people that say
they are what their not and just taking up people's time actually thinking they
are accomplishing something by listening to someone for three hours.

This is the real deal. This is the time to do something and we have time and money to do it.

Thank you for the ideas.

Yes - Dr Paul cured my apathy is great slogan.
think about messages about outcame, future, and---let Dr Paul do his job.
Energy and admiration is here
