Musk Advocates to Double H-1B Visas

Assuming that is true, the test is going to be profits. This decision will either be rewarded or punished in the market. There is no need for the government to intervene and tell IBM shareholders that it knows how to manage their money better than the people they chose to delegate that to.

Exactly.

Should it be illegal for everyone to hire foreigners, or just business owners?

For example if you hire a mexican here illegally to cut your grass, should that be a crime? What would the penalty be?

And just to fill this out a bit more, in order for this law to be effective, it's not enough just to punish those who knowingly hire illegal immigrants. It's also necessary to require employers to find out the immigration status of those they hire. This in turn means that the government must require certain accepted forms of identification for that purpose, and must require that employers demonstrate that they are complying with this requirement by providing the government with the identities of everyone they hire. Thus, this law doesn't only restrict employers and illegal immigrants, it also requires all of us who want to be able to exchange our labor for money with someone legally to get government approved identification and to agree to have the government keep track of us.

It should be legal for any of us to enter into voluntary agreements with anyone else to exchange our labor for money, without either party needing to inform the government about any details of the arrangement, who is involved in it, or the fact that it happened at all.

This is why Ron Paul always opposed laws that required employers to enforce immigration laws.

What do you propose that does not result in hordes of third world brown goo eating out the core of this nation and turning this into a rape and shi+ in the street culture like western Europe?

I propose addressing the crimes of rape and defecating in streets directly. The use of force to punish and prevent those things is legitimate.

As for people being brown, I don't propose doing anything about that at all.

And therein lies the disconnect.

There are laws and courts and cops and prisons in these nations that we are speaking of.

Why has that not happened already?

Why do you want to ensure that citizens like me or my elderly parents be condemned to have to have a violent encounter with brown goo just because you want cheap labor?

We can't eliminate risks from the world, and shouldn't try to exchange our freedom for security. Attempting to impose some kind of pre-crime enforcement where we punish people for crimes they haven't committed yet just because we think we have reason to believe they are going to commit those crimes in the future because of their skin color or whatever other reason would make us all slaves, subjected to arbitrary enforcement of laws by those in power subject to punishment for crimes we haven't committed.

Why do you hate indigenous citizens?

When you import scorpions, why do you think they won't do what scorpions do?

And shiit in the streets.

Isn't it racist of you to elevate the nature of brown goo to imply that they are less dangerous or insidiously predatory than we know they are?

Perhaps Mumbai is your libertarian utopia and Johannesburg is your rainbow paradise.

I will resist that.

Do you think individuals should be punished for hiring foreigners. Hiring someone to cut grass for example?

Only allow people who work. I'm all for getting rid of the ones that are here illegally. I'm guessing the net result will be way less immigrants.

I agree, at the very least we should only have the government controlling immigration, not private businesses.

I'm still waiting for someone to answer my question whether it should be a crime for an individual to hire a foreigner to cut your grass.

And why are the following "irrelevant"?

- A job
- Housing
- Food
- Transportation, vehicles, roads
- Medical care
- Education
- Govt support

But don't H1Bs pay taxes?

And wouldn't we need to deport everyone that doesn't pay taxes to be logically consistent?

It will be exceptionally hard for govt and their cronies to keep the mantra "Jobs Americans won't do" or "shortage of good workers" going when 30% of the population is living in tents and standing in soup lines.

So when the bubble pops and businesses are on life support, you think the answer is for them to pay more for their employees?

You're not considering the fact that companies that are losing money GO OUT OF BUSINESS!!! You guys all act like that's impossible.

No, I don't think that is necessary.

If the feds did their constitutional duty and protected the nation from invasion, it would be a moot issue anyway.

Caveat: that question pre-supposes that you hired an invader that was hanging around outside of Home Depot looking for day work.

It is an entirely different story to lobby and facilitate and grease the skids to bring them here in the first place.
