“The Senate can use the nuclear option and override the 60-vote rule. They can pass the CR with a simple majority.”

“Right now this shutdown is a big political fight and drama, but it doesn’t have to be happening,”

If the options on the table are giving in to the Democrats demands or changing the Senate rules and pass a CR then is it worth it? Is the nuclear option the less bad option?

I don't need to evaluate either option, to say that giving in to Democrat demands is never a good idea.

And pissing them off, by the same token, is always a good idea

One would think you'd reject the very notion of letting an AI bot define your options, and ignore it.

I like to bounce ideas off of ChatGPT sometimes even if it is a bot. Just have to keep in mind its numerous flaws when you do so

Yeah its probably like giving a mouse a cookie.

Eventually you just get full socialism if you keep bailing out the health insurance industry because healthcare is so big it never used to be 18% of GDP.

The hostile takeover is already here.

An actual conservative wouldn't want to end the shutdown. Anything that actually stops during a "shutdown" should be the first steps of actual cuts to the government. There shouldn't even exist a debate on this in conservative and libertarian circles. Why are we even talking about ending the "shutdown?"

It's almost as though they get caught up in this us vs them mentality.

Let's make the shut down permanent FFS.

I don't know what MYG's malfunction is, but the OP has a good excuse for being completely clueless--it's binary.

There's very little support for not paying our military servicemen and women.

Military pay already went out so they are good for couple weeks but then they won't get their pay if the government is shut down.

There might be a small percentage of conservatives that are fine with that I guess but most Americans won't be.

I don't even think Rand Paul could stay elected if his party stopped paying the military for years.

What Trump and his cronies are going to do is pass a CR that gives into the Democrat demands, while at the same time saying they're owning the Dems.

Senator John Kennedy admits US Congress does “play acting” for the cameras

They’ll get out on the house floor, pretend to argue and fight, and then they’ll vote like they pre-discussed before the session

Another ‘conspiracy theory’ proven true

“Chuck Schumer — he's gonna be forced to go to a 6 or 8 of his Democratic Senate colleagues and say, Look, I need a favor. Vote to get me out of this shutdown. He's gonna tell 'em, Now, look, I gotta vote no. And I gotta dogcuss you a little bit. We gotta have some play acting and make this look good. And then we come out of the shutdown” and vote to end it

Is it really a conspiracy theory?

Newt Gingrich became famous by giving speeches to empty congressional chambers just for the CSPAN cameras.

Can we have a discontinuing resolution and turn the place into a museum?

"Billy, this was when people were really stupid..."

No! I was really looking forward to watching the EBT riots from the comforts of my home. I'm burned out with watching the weakass Portland Antifa riots. I am looking forward to a new YouTube reality riot series.
Yeah, me too. But I think the politicians will disappoint us... as always.
