Montana became the 18th state to end its concealed carry permit requirement when Gov. Greg Gianforte (R) signed House Bill 102 on Thursday.

The NRA-ILA reported that Gianforte signed HB102, which means Montanans can “carry a firearm for self-defense throughout the state without a government-mandated permit.”

Breitbart News reported that HB102 also removes a number of state government-mandated “gun-free zones” throughout the state.

On February 12, 2021, Breitbart News noted that Utah became the 17th state to abolish its concealed carry permit requirement.

Montana is now the 18th.

The other 16 states are Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

Ohio?

Indiana?

Florida?

Tennessee?

Nebraska?

Who's next?

Yea? It's a shame that states even need to do this. It IS a good thing. I've just become such a cynic.

Hopefully Indiana will be the next state to do this.

I thought we had it locked down last summer. No problem with the senate and it should be ok in the house . Not too sure about that Gov . Sad when you have the reddest state being behind someplace like Arizona .

Are guns allowed on your reservation?

No weapons restrictions on my properties except nuclear and anti aircraft . Only the Great Sagamore is allowed those.

Dark horse possibility is GA.

Georgia House Weighing Legislation to End Concealed Permit Requirement

The Georgia House is weighing legislation to end the state’s requirement that law-abiding citizens acquire a permit from the state in order to carry a handgun for self-defense.

The legislation, House Bill 110, is sponsored by five Republican State Reps and one Democrat. Those Reps. are Clark Heath (R), Steve Tarvin (R), Emory Donahoo (R), Joseph Gullet (R) , Danny Mathis (R), and Mike Glanton (D).

The text of HB110 says:

To amend Part 1 of Article 1 of Chapter 3 of Title 12, Title 16, and Title 27 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to general provisions regarding parks, historic areas, memorials, and recreation, crimes and offenses, and game and fish, respectively, so as to allow persons who are eligible for a weapons carry license to lawfully carry a weapon without such license.

The push to eliminate the concealed permit requirement in Georgia comes on the heels of Utah and Montana eliminating their respective requirements, bringing the total number of states with no requirement to 18. Those states are: Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

On November 21, 2018, First Coast News reported then Governor-Elect Brian Kemp supported the elimination of the concealed carry permit requirement in Georgia. In early 2019, Kemp reaffirmed his support for eliminating the requirement when asked about constitutional carry during an interview with 13WMAZ.

Kemp said, “My positions from the campaign have not changed.”

Iowa: Bill to Abolish Concealed Permit Requirement on the Move

A bill to abolish the requirement Iowans get a permit from the state before exercising their Second Amendment right to bear arms is moving in the Iowa House.

The Des Moines Register reports House Study Bill 254 has already cleared a House Subcommittee and is now headed to the House Public Safety Committee.

HSB254 would end the requirement Iowans get a permit before carrying a handgun on themselves for self-defense.

State Rep. Steven Holt (R) spoke in favor of the bill, saying, “Those practicing their Second Amendment rights will no longer have to get a permission slip to practice their basic fundamental rights.”

Democrat Rep. Beth Wessel-Kroeschell (Ames) countered Holt, claiming doing away with the permit requirement “is extreme and it’s unpopular and a threat to public safety.”

On June 7, 2017, Breitbart News reported Alaska, Arizona, and Wyoming–three states abolished their permit requirement long ago–did not see the surge in handgun murders, bloodshed, the left warned would come.

Alaska abolished its permit requirement in 2003, Arizona in 2010, and Wyoming in 2011. FBI figures published by the NRA showed a drop in handgun murders in Alaska and Arizona after the permit requirement was abolished, with Wyoming following “similar trends.”

Eighteen states have abolished their concealed carry permit requirement. Those states are: Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

LOL yeah right.
You might be surprised. TN is going to pass it this year and Alabama might, as well as SC and IN. When other states start passing conservative legislation other Republicans start to be embarrassed for not doing so. Esepcially Texas, a place with so much pride. There is a cascading effect that takes place. It won't be long.

Hopefully Indiana will be the next state to do this.

News from Indiana:

Indiana’s state House on Monday passed legislation that would eliminate handgun licensing in the state, over objections from the State Police.

The measure, which passed 65-31, will now head to the state Senate. It would eliminate handgun licenses, which raise more than $5 million annually for law enforcement training, according to The Indianapolis Star.
