KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A Northland woman is demanding justice after she says police shot and killed her dog for no reason.

The dog's owner set up surveillance cameras to keep a close eye on classic cars in their driveway. She never imagined capturing video of their family pet's last breath.

In an instant, 11 years of companionship ended clutched in Brandee Buschman's arms.

"They killed her, and she died right there in front of my steps. She ain't deserve that," Buschman said.

Sierra, 13, was rescued more than a decade ago. Like so many other dogs, her favorite thing to do was riding in the car.

"She's part of the family. She didn't do anything. She was looking to see who was at the door," Buschman said.

Officers were called about 11 p.m. on July 30 to the 3800 block of North Cleveland Avenue on a disturbance. When they arrived on scene, they contacted the residents.

Buschman said police knocked at her front door and didn't announce themselves as police. One officer drew his gun before Buschman opened the front door, springing Sierra free.

Police said in fear of their safety, an officer shot the dog.

"She is scared turning around looking for help from me, and they moved in and gunned her down," Buschman said.

Buschman buried Sierra on her secluded Northland property.

"They murdered her," Buschman cried.

KCTV5 spoke directly with Kansas City Police Capt. Stacey Graves to find out why police were sent to Buschman's house and why an officer started shooting.

"Officers were alerted to a residence where sounds of an argument, sounds of a disturbance, was happening," Graves said. "A dog came out of that residence and lunged at officers, and in fear of their personal safety, officers shot the dog.

This should be S.O.P. for homeowners that have unannounced visitors in the night. It is in this household.

I heard that many canines are fed up with this treatment and have joined together and formed a group called "Canines Lives Matter." Statistics prove that black dogs in poor neighborhoods are attacked more than white dogs in more affluent neighborhoods. Thus Black Dogs have formed their own group called "Black Canine Lives Matter"

13 year old dog?...probably had cataracts, arthritis, a bad heart....God give me strength...feared for their lives my ass....pussy cops...end of story.
