[Milei WINS!] Javier Milei, Austrian econ. prof. & ancap, runs for president of Argentina

Trump had those forced on him.
And those RFK willingly supports are much worse.

And here again - nothing bad Trump did was his fault, but every mere utterance of every other politician is explicit proof of their corruption.

What does the polish on Trump's shoes taste like?

What a surprise this clown truly does nothing more but to support Ukraine and Zelensky.

The Clown Milei is planning to host Latin American summit in support of Ukraine.

Milei plans to hold a "Latin American Support Summit" for Ukraine at the end of 2024.

At the same time, Milei favours alliances with "countries that defend freedom," including the United States, Israel, which he visited earlier this month, and Ukraine, to which he gave two Russian-made military helicopters.

OMG, that is horrible. How is it possible that he is unaware of the Maidan coup and the attacks on the people in Donbass? Why, oh, why does it so often seem to be that someone who is super good in some ways is also terrible in others? Does he even understand that Russia is no longer under control of the Bolsheviks?!

Cuts multiple government agencies; balances the Argentine budget; slashes debt spending - meh.

Hosts a meeting that will amount to nothing - ZOMG!!11! WHAT a ClOwN!!!!

If this guy is a puppet, I'd like to have one of our very own, please. Because we have a government that isn't even bothering to "hold meetings" to discuss a conflict that we'd frankly have no means of being able to support (e.g., Argentina vis-a-vis Ukraine)... nope, we just jump headlong into spending billions of dollars and threatening WWIII... BUT - we still have the largest and growing government in the history of human civilization, with nothing more than meaningless drivel from the so-called "conservative" politicians who promise reforms a quarter of what Milei has already done, then NEVER act on it.

Give me one those clowns.

Exclusive speech by Milei: "[Tonight], President Javier Milei will announce something that will shake not only the entire political landscape but the entire society. We will implement the currency basket competition."

"A currency basket is a set of multiple currencies, each with different weights. A currency basket determines the market value of a separate currency. Often, this practice is referred to as currency indexing. A forex trader can accept basket orders to be able to trade multiple currency pairs at once."

The fusion of currency indexing (Hayek) and currency basket (Mundell) theories proposes anchoring currencies to a reference basket composed of various strong currencies. This aims to stabilize exchange rates, allowing for automatic price adjustments. The approach seeks to reduce inflation and promote economic stability but requires coordination between countries and careful selection of basket elements.

I certainly wish the United States government would hold more meetings or "summits" (about Ukraine or anything else) that will accomplish nothing significant and that will have no meaningful consequences.

Local Argentine media reported on Tuesday that President Javier Milei is planning to visit Ukraine in June to meet with President Volodymyr Zelensky and express Argentina’s support for the country amid Russia’s ongoing invasion.

Milei’s planned trip to Ukraine will mark the first time a Latin American head of state visits the country after Russia’s February 2022 invasion since former Guatemalan President Alejandro Giammattei’s visit to Kyiv in July 2022.

In Latin America, Moscow’s deep friendly ties with leftist authoritarian regimes in the region – most notably those of Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua – has resulted in leftist politicians more likely to support the invasion, while conservative and/or right-wing political figures are more likely to take Ukraine’s side.

Sources from Argentina’s Casa Rosada (Pink House) presidential office told Todo Noticias that although the details of Milei’s itinerary are not yet confirmed, both countries are working to outline dates and details. The Argentine presidency is aiming for a June date despite the logistical complications inherent to the ongoing war in Ukraine. The encounter’s prospective June date was also confirmed to other local Argentine outlets such as El Cronista.

I will say in his defense that so far he has not done anything of any real substance about it.
And domestic policy is more important than foreign policy. (though both are important)

LOL!

Did Trumpy say something good about Milei? The 180 is welcomed, but more than curious in your case.

Giving Zelensky and the lies out of Ukraine any credibility is a big deal and same goes for all of the demons behind this terrible proxy war. Pretty sure Argentina will never give any money but it's still bad. It's akin to supporting Bush and Cheney over Iraq. Bad judgment on Melei's part.

It's just not relevant. He can say whatever he wants to say, but until those words turn into actions, none of it matters.

For the life of me, I can't understand this "libertarian" animosity over this guy. It would be like having Rand Paul elected President...

Wake me up when Milei fleeces US taxpayers for more than $100B to be sent to Ukraine. Until then, it's a matter for Argentinians to worry about.

Not sure he will be able to visit UKR in June. Too many experts are telling me Russia making gains all over the place is going to really lay the hammers down this spring..

Greek politician in Odessa probably rethinking his support/visit after a Iskander missile supposedly landed fairly close to him & Zelinsky earlier this week. (Russian side says they took out building where military operatives were just awarded medal for sinking Russian ship with Naval Drones)

Ukraine side said missile was meant to kill Zelinsky...

I don't think Argentina will ever give any money and I have no idea if they have any weapons they'd like to unload. We'll see.

I'm not a libertarian but do like Milei, very much, in spite of this. I disagree about it not mattering, though, He's an important man with the eyes of the world upon him. He's probably going to become quite influential and I'd hate the for that influence to influence anyone to support a country that is one of the most violent and corrupt in the world, that murdered 15,000 people in Donbass, before Russia decided to act. Zelensky is a dictator who had one of his own peace negotiators shot in the head for taking his job too seriously. He's had clergy raided, critics, journalists and opposition party members disappeared and/or killed. That war isn't just a Ukraine-Russia problem but poses a threat to the world. It's significance can't be blown off as not important.

I agree but don't you see that his supporting the proxy war - and proxy wars evil - means supporting fleecing Americans to pay for it? He certainly knows who paying for it. I would sort of think he would opposed fleecing anyone, anywhere.

No, it doesn't mean that, because Milei is not POTUS, he's President of Argentina. I'm not saying I approve of his position on these issues, I don't, but I also don't care very much what the opinions of the President of Argentina (or any country except the US) happen to be on Ukraine/Israel/etc. That's America First 101...
