Part of me is a little pissed off by this, but given Mustaine's history of erratic political stances, it wasn't something I am 100% surprised by. Dave's been attending a really outlandish church for several years and I'm betting his pastor probably played a huge part in this. I still like Megadeth's music, but frankly Iced Earth is sounding a good bit better lately and Jon Schaffer's love of America is far more based in actual founding principles, so I'll take his endorsement over Dave's.

Schaffer and Mustaine's love for America have gone in different directions. Mustaine was anti-establishment and has become far more pro-Fuck Yeah America, while Schaffer was doing pathetic nationalist propaganda crap, saw the light, and realized that he was being a douche.

Kind of interesting to see the path the two of them took.

This is seriously depressing. I don't worship the guy, but he's one of the few musicians (of a genre I like) that I could relate to politically. Endorsing Santorum makes no fucking sense. He just leapfrogged Metallica on the Sellout-O-Meter.

It's official. Mustaine is a douche. I won't be spending money on anything to do with him ever again. This is actually pretty disappointing to me, being a guitarist and thrash fan. I'd be crushed if Hetfield said something similar.

As far as Mustiane goes...well he was kicked out of Metallica maybe 40 years ago...because he was an idiot then just as he is now.

Megadeath`s Dave Mustaine - Full text of his Santorum endorsment

Mustaine made the endorsement in an interview with Music Radar, saying “You know, I think Santorum has some presidential qualities, and I’m hoping that if it does come down to it, we’ll see a Republican in the White House… and that it’s Rick Santorum.”

Mustaine was once tapped by MTV to cover the 1992 Democratic Convention, which wou can see here, where he repeatedly pressed protesters and attendees alike about how the politics “out in the street” didn’t match up with what was going on the hall.

If his endorsement was really genuine, it basically came down to foreign policy. I guess Dave didn`t really understand the message and Paul`s ideas in terms of foreign policy. He probably took the Fox spin bait on some out of context statement Paul made.

Dave is an interesting man. I don't agree with all the flack he's getting on the account that he's far wiser than folks give him credit for. At an early age, he basically raised himself, while later dabbling in the Occult and almost dying from a heroin overdose. Mustaine has literally been to hell and back, and you gain knowledge from tumultuous events like that. For all intents and purpose, Dave should be dead.
