Rick Santorum - Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine Endorses Rick Santorum,[mod: later sd no]

It makes perfect sense when you read this article from Dave Weigel:

In the song cyle, weak foreign nations are trying to corrupt and weaken the United States. "The eighth world power of modern Rome," he sings, ominously: "Washington is Next!" The correct response to this thinking, according to Mustaine, is muscular neoconservatism.

No rules of engagement, this enemy hides
Amongst women and children
And to beat violence, you must ignore the focus groups
You must send in the Mossad, turn of the BBC, CNN
And don't look back
Rest assured there'll be no more Middle Eastern crisis, hell!
There'll be no more Middle East!
These are your people Liberty
Pull up your dress today
And tattooed is "property of The USA
A subsidiary of Halliburton"
Surprise?!
But a roaring lion is about to be on earth
Hey, Jihad Joe? Guess what? We're coming to get you!
Compare this to what Santorum said about the Middle East in his days at the Ethics and Public Policy Center, and you probably find a lot of coherent overlap.

Megadeth's Dave Mustaine endorses Santorum......

Are you effing kidding me? Mustaine needs to do more homework. He might as well say he likes Santorum because of his sweater vests......

And it's obvious he doesn't have a clear understanding of Paul. Dave probably gets glazey eyed when Paul goes into one of his monetary policy spills........

"Earlier in the election, I was completely oblivious as to who Rick Santorum was, but when the dude went home to be with his daughter when she was sick, that was very commendable,” Mustaine recently told MusicRadar.com. “... You know, I think Santorum has some presidential qualities, and I'm hoping that if it does come down to it, we'll see a Republican in the White House... and that it's Rick Santorum."

Weighing in on the rest of the field, Mustaine called Newt Gingrich an “angry little man” and said Ron Paul will “make total sense for a while, and then he'll say something so way out that it negates everything else.”

It's obvious that Dave Mustaine is just like so many other ill-informed voters. It's a good bet that he gets his "information" (i.e. spoon-fed propaganda) from the likes of Mark Levin, Sean Hannity and Bill Kristol.

Megadeth hardcore fans likely don't vote anyways. I don't think this will matter at all.

Except I think it would be pretty cool to see Ron getting Mustaine to play at a rally.

This seems like the point in the thread where somebody pulls out clip from the Metallica "Some Kind of Monster" documentary where there is a semi-recent interview with Mustaine crying about being kicked out of Metallica in the early 80's. Also, he looks like an elderly woman in that interview.

Heard this on the radio. I am super disappoint. :( I suspect that Dave was led astray when he converted to Christian a decade (?) or so ago.

Meanwhile, in Holloywood, a fund-raiser for Obama:

The Holmby Hills event is expected to be a star-studded affair, co-hosted by actor Will Ferrell and his wife.
The event, which costs up to $38,000 per person to attend, will be held at the home of Bradley Bell, the co-creator of "The Bold and the Beautiful."

Among the entertainment at the event is a performance by the band Foo Fighters, who won five Grammy Awards on Sunday night.

Ugh!

'>'Ron Paul< will “make total sense for a while, and then he'll say something so way out that it negates everything else.”

replace Ron Paul with >Dave Mustaine<.

Hetfield says he's personally a libertarian. Wonder if he is a Paul fan.

I'm glad that he did not endorse Ron Paul. Ron doesn't want a big electric fence on the border...Dave does:

Over his career, Mustaine has made comments about politics in the US and internationally. In a confrontational 1988 interview with Sounds journalist Roy Wilkinson, Mustaine said, "If I were President of the United States, I'd build a great wall along the Mexican border and not let anybody in. ... The beauty is gone when you see Americans sleeping on sidewalks and it makes me sick to to think we have assh---s in this country letting f--king Mexicans in. Who needs this s--t?"

In 1988, Mustaine caused a riot when Megadeth played a concert in Northern Ireland after he "unwittingly" expressed support for the Irish Republican Army (IRA) regarding the problems between Northern Ireland's Catholic and Protestant communities. This incident occurred amid a period of turmoil in the province known as the Troubles.

In 1992 Mustaine covered the Democratic National Convention for MTV. He went on to vote for President Bill Clinton

In 2004, Mustaine said he would vote for President Bush because John Kerry would "ruin our country." In 2011, he called President Obama "the most divisive president we've ever had. I've never, in my 50 years of being alive, listened to an American president try and turn one class of people against another class of people."

In 2009, Mustaine discussed the influence Alex Jones' films and ideas have had him and his music. Specifically, Mustaine said that he wrote the album Endgame based on Jones' Endgame film in order "to educate his fans and the general public about the conspiracy behind the march towards global government."

Move along people, nothing to see here, just your standard neo-con who happens to enjoy some Alex Jones films.
