Dave Mustaine, leader of the heavy metal band Megadeth, is ready to rock out for Rick Santorum.

"Earlier in the election, I was completely oblivious as to who Rick Santorum was, but when the dude went home to be with his daughter when she was sick, that was very commendable,” Mustaine recently told MusicRadar.com. “... You know, I think Santorum has some presidential qualities, and I'm hoping that if it does come down to it, we'll see a Republican in the White House... and that it's Rick Santorum."

Weighing in on the rest of the field, Mustaine called Newt Gingrich an “angry little man” and said Ron Paul will “make total sense for a while, and then he'll say something so way out that it negates everything else.”

Somebody tweet, Facebook, email the following to Mr. Megadeath.

Ah. I get it. Mustaine's upset because Ron's taking a moderate "Let's get rid of the magnet" approach on immigration. Sad....for Mustaine.

I'm glad that he did not endorse Ron Paul. Ron doesn't want a big electric fence on the border...Dave does:

Over his career, Mustaine has made comments about politics in the US and internationally. In a confrontational 1988 interview with Sounds journalist Roy Wilkinson, Mustaine said, "If I were President of the United States, I'd build a great wall along the Mexican border and not let anybody in. ... The beauty is gone when you see Americans sleeping on sidewalks and it makes me sick to to think we have assh---s in this country letting f--king Mexicans in. Who needs this s--t?"

In 1988, Mustaine caused a riot when Megadeth played a concert in Northern Ireland after he "unwittingly" expressed support for the Irish Republican Army (IRA) regarding the problems between Northern Ireland's Catholic and Protestant communities. This incident occurred amid a period of turmoil in the province known as the Troubles.

In 1992 Mustaine covered the Democratic National Convention for MTV. He went on to vote for President Bill Clinton

In 2004, Mustaine said he would vote for President Bush because John Kerry would "ruin our country." In 2011, he called President Obama "the most divisive president we've ever had. I've never, in my 50 years of being alive, listened to an American president try and turn one class of people against another class of people."

In 2009, Mustaine discussed the influence Alex Jones' films and ideas have had him and his music. Specifically, Mustaine said that he wrote the album Endgame based on Jones' Endgame film in order "to educate his fans and the general public about the conspiracy behind the march towards global government."

Move along people, nothing to see here, just your standard neo-con who happens to enjoy some Alex Jones films.

Megadeth blows anyways. I bet Tom Araya would endorse RP. And BTW doesn't Megadeth have a song called "Peace Sells"?

Peace Sells...but who's buying?
Obviously not Dave, he's voting for Mr. Bomb-Iran himself, Ricky Santorum.

He is friends with Alex Jones and likes his movies, but he thinks Ron Paul says stuff thats out there?

I haven't listened to Megadeth in a long time and had no plans to buy anymore albums. This endorsement of his has just solidified my decision to never buy anymore of their albums. I'll just continue listening to Motorhead.

It's official. Mustaine is a douche. I won't be spending money on anything to do with him ever again. This is actually pretty disappointing to me, being a guitarist and thrash fan. I'd be crushed if Hetfield said something similar.

Ill take your megafail and raise you one snoop. Rollin down the street smokin peace pipes sippin on freedom and prosperity... laid back...

Part of me is a little pissed off by this, but given Mustaine's history of erratic political stances, it wasn't something I am 100% surprised by. Dave's been attending a really outlandish church for several years and I'm betting his pastor probably played a huge part in this. I still like Megadeth's music, but frankly Iced Earth is sounding a good bit better lately and Jon Schaffer's love of America is far more based in actual founding principles, so I'll take his endorsement over Dave's.

Ha, who would want Mustaine's endorsement anyways? That guy is a total wack on multiple levels. He's a religious zealot anyways, so it's no surprise.

"Rick Santorum Endorsed by Alex Jones fan, conspiracy theorist."

As much as I like Megadeth...I dig that headline idea. >.<

Like most people, Mustaine, simply has no clue. Hopefully the ronpaul fanbase can reach this guy and educate him enough to become an RP supporter. This sort of thing reminds me of the dismal job the RP campaign is doing. Why can't ron paul create a simple youtube video urging ( by name) Kobe Bryant, Justin Beiber, and Lady Gaga and other famous people to learn about him and read his "end the fed" book and challenge them to learn about the issues, etc. This would cost paul just a few seconds of his time and it could have a huge impact.
