McCain BOMBSHELL! Digg this so the media sees it.

This sounds like swift boating to me and it isn't right. I haven't been a POW and doubt any of you have. I would be pretty caution questioning McCain's 'less than honorable motives'. I may disagree with McCain politically but lets debates issues of substance and leave this sort of crap out of the debate.

QFT. When crap like this happens, please stop and think "What Would Ron Do?"

As much as I don't like McCain, I cannot hold anything he said while a POW, and being tortured, against him. Many greater men than him would fold under the same circumstances.

Don't jump on this bandwagon and lower yourself to the swiftboat level. When you start slinging shit, you end up smelling bad (along with your candidate). Just ask James Kirchick.

What I find interesting is all the skeletons each candidate has, and how the press plays them. RP actually has not been treated that poorly regarding the newsletters - yet. We may feel he has, but I think that is due more to an emotional stake. Edwards is polling higher than RP and he has been ignored by the press almost as much.

They won't touch McCain on this stuff as none of us knows what we would do if held prisoner and supposedly tortured, even if what McCain did violates the Military Code of Conduct. The hero status has been cemented and I think swiftboating him will backfire unless some real dirt or lies about what he went though are uncovered. McCains problem is his liberal congressional record.

Rudy was hammered early on a ton of stuff, but for now seems to be getting a free ride by the press for now because he is below the radar.

The press has been awful kind to preacher Huck, when he probabaly has the worse record of any when he was in office. Russert could have killed on on MTP, but basically gave him a free ride. Apparantly Huck is really being swiftboated by some group in ads in S.C. to make up for it.

Romney has been taken to task in the media for his flip-flopping, but it seems all the candidates are getting a pass for now as the early primaries take place. The press and campaign attack ads usually heat up after Super Tuesday when the field is narrowed.

Funny thing - nothing on Fred except he once lobbied for an abortion group. I think the reason they have nothing is he never did anything - as in in never really worked.

First of all, the swiftboaters were right about Kerry. Kerry ran as a Vietnam hero and so he opened himself up to the scrutiny on his military record. I don't want to highjack the thread so, back to McCain...

I agree with you about not faulting him for what he may or may not have done while he was a POW - none of us who have not been in that situation knows what we would do if we were. However, the main issue on the DVD relating to McCain is to point out his role as a Senator in squelching people's attempts to uncover the truth and to do everything possible to recover any POW/MIAs.

I think this issue is very pertinant to the election debate because character matters! Anyone who's willing to cover up the truth for their own benefit is not fit to be President.

Jacmicwag is absolutely right. We have no place to be attacking other candidates. Let our message of peace and freedom sway voters, not personal attacks.

It is not justified to attack another candidate to further our means. If we stoop to that level we are no better than neo-conservatives pushing this war of democracy.

The ends do not justify the means.

John McCain denies that any POW's were left behind. Why was he so adamently opposed to the release of POW/MIA classified documents? Why would he have the records in Hanoi sealed? Why the cover up?

Screw digging. I dugg it, but you know that it won't be up there for long. Save a copy for yourself and then print it out. You can make copies of the entire thing and hand them out.

Great post I agree 1000%

I can forgive McCain for what happened while he was a prisoner....

I can't forgive him for trying to cover up his POW time while he was a senator.

It shows he is a just another bushite washington insider willing to do whatever to cover up the truth no matter how badly it affects others to save his own political skin.

McCain deserves to have this story heard by every eligible voter so they not only know he is NOT a hero, he's a traitor and a scum for trying to cover this up and not fit to be president. How many loyal american soldiers died in the missions he compromised to save his own skin?

I can understand he was under duress, but then to cover up those records equals spitting on the soldiers graves he compromised.

McCain is scum and everyone in the USA deserves to know he is no Hero....he is a traitor.....

As a veteran I don't like to see anyone's military record attacked. But I also think that anyone who served with the person in question has every right to voice their opinion.
