Mayor Bloomberg Says Cops Should Go On Strike Until Americans Give Up Their Guns

Despite the comments of the people who dislike police, this WOULD be disastrous.

Bloomberg does not care about the safety of Americans, otherwise he would not propose this.

I agree and believe that Bloomberg should be charged with inciting a riot and face civil penalties when the SHTF as a result of the law and order vacuum created by lack of police presence on the streets.

And if some criminals unworthy of life preyed on some rabid liberals who were entirely defenseless or encountered armed citizens - I'm trying to find a downside ....
Yep, perhaps they would learn something. Could be they would learn we need some police control.

The downside is that many people would learn the wrong lesson: "No police means terrible chaos and suffering, we need them to keep us safe!"

I would suggest to you that those people are already in that mind space. Heretofore, they have had the luxury of thinking more police = more safety without being exposed to the fallacy of such thinking. When the neighborhood watch takes care of business, and criminals fear armed citizens more than they do the police .....

Two weekends ago I attended an annual car show, this is an outdoor event, its basically a BBQ and car show, mostly imports and custom rides. Each year I go to this and nearly each year there is about 12-18 cops and another 10 on bikes, ALL for a CAR show (there has been ZERO violence, ZERO thefts in nearly 10 years)

The last 2 years, due to budget cuts the local PD was NOT able to send ANY units to the show, 99.9% of the time ,the local pd comes up and gives tickets for loud exhaust, clear corners, tint and whatever other bullshit they can make up. Someone Chirps their tires? THEY TAKE YOU TO JAIL AND IMPOUND YOUR CAR...Each year it was getting worse and more and more people started coming in STOCK cars to avoid the BS (or not coming at all)...

Now let me tell you, this year, there were NO cops, everyone was so happy, it was the most peaceful I have ever felt at any car show, it was AMAZING. No tickets given out, no arrogant jerk offs walking up and down the line of cars giving tickets, GOD IT WAS NICE!!!

So there were ZERO cops this year and ZERO:

  • Fights
  • There was NO illegal racing (what they usually say they are there for)
  • Ok, there were a few burnouts, but was anyone hurt? Nope, just some worn out tires :)
  • There was no graffiti, drugs (maybe some weed) gang members or child molesters
  • There was no murders
  • Nobody was doing donuts (another thing the cops say they need to be there for)

WE DON'T NEED THE FUZZ! We police ourselves, on the times Ive been to "illegal" street races and there WAS a fight, the group takes care of it, we either let a 1 on 1 fight happen or everyone gets in there and breaks it up. PLEASE COPS, go on strike.

Just my example :)

If the police strike, there would be no one to arrest the individuals in New York who choose to arm themselves for self-defense...

How about we go on strike until the police give up theirs?

Agreed. The police are the dangerous ones. I'd take my chances with a criminal not wearing a silly uniform and badge over one who is any day. Common criminals typically don't murder or beat their victims, they just rob you. The same can't be said about cops.

Somewhat disagree. Ununiformed criminals realize that their actions involve some personal risk, and act accordingly.

What risk? They are rarely in any danger, and even more rarely are actually punished for their crimes. Street thugs know they may get shot, or that they may face prison if caught.

This prick doesn't have to worry about his on protection because he can hire an army of security guards. Everyone have a natural right to protect his life liberty and property with a gun.

I will have to make a note of this and never visit NY while Bloomberg is still the mayor there.

It's illegal for them to strike. Let them, then fire them all and hire new ones at half their absurd salaries and reform the pension system.

Blue flu:
The cop's version of going on strike. Since they can't legally strike they all call in sick.
When the city threatened to reduce pensions, the NYPD came down with a bad case of the blue flu.

There used to be a good wikipedia article about past occurrences of blue flu, but it seems to have been deleted.

Good. Fucking do it. Maybe Bloomberg can join them, too. Fucking asshole is the reason I refuse to go with my friends to New York anymore.

If I was a major crime boss... I would clamp down on all crime and possibly patrol the streets myself during the strike to massively undercut the police's existence.

LOL.

He was guilty of felony conspiracy, when he directed his "people" to violate multiple federal laws regarding "straw purchases" of firearms.

He's protected and not going to be charged with anything.

Several years ago doctors went on strike in LA. The death rate for the time went down and doctors went back to work without a whimper.

In this scenario the cops didn't go on strike, but were fired(30k).

How It Worked:

The whole country of Georgia promptly fell into a drunken reenactment of Mad Max that is still going on today. Ha, just kidding! Instead of indulging in a nationwide game of bumper cars, everything went just fine -- in fact, even better than normal. And we don't mean that the citizens held themselves together for a couple of days until new cops could be hired. They were without police for three freaking months. And it was fine.

Saakashvili's administration quickly realized this was because it had been the cops causing most of the trouble all along. A remnant from the Soviet era, they'd treated the roads as their personal piggy bank, administering their very own brand of expensive justice at will and causing mob-style chaos as they did. When they were taken out of the equation, not even a hint of disorder was left because they had been the disorder.

It took three whole months to find enough reliable replacements, but with some help from the United States in recruiting and training the new police force, Georgia got back to normal.
