I'm not so sure a spectacle strike would turn out all too well especially since most people right now think someone else carries the responsibility for their safety and so they aren't armed or prepared to defend themselves not to mention criminals knowing this might take this opportunity as a carte blanche to commit any crime they want without any repercussions.

I'm the last person to advocate for the state or especially for the thugs in blue costumes but them just abruptly walking away and letting everyone know they did is not the solution either.

The downside is that many people would learn the wrong lesson: "No police means terrible chaos and suffering, we need them to keep us safe!"

Works for me, and it's another reason to be armed! What would come next? Once the people are disarmed and only the criminals had guns, the cops could say: "if you don't double our pay, we'll go on strike again and this time you can't defend yourselves from the criminals at all."

Like we really need to be placed in that situation. History and current events prove that the government and those that work for the government are quite willing to use threats and blackmail to get what they want.
