Charleston, SC – In a meeting of the Libertarian National Committee held this weekend in Charleston, South Carolina, former Congressman Bob Barr proposed a resolution urging Congressman Ron Paul to seek the Libertarian Party's presidential nomination.

The resolution passed unanimously and is included below:

WHEREAS, the Libertarian National Committee encourages competition in the race for the Libertarian Party’s presidential nomination and is appreciative of all candidates who make the commitment to run;

NOW THEREFORE, in the event that Republican primary voters select a candidate other than Congressman Paul in February of 2008, the Libertarian National Committee urges Congressman Ron Paul to seek the presidential nomination of the Libertarian Party to be decided in Denver, Colorado during Memorial Day weekend of 2008.

FURTHERMORE, The Libertarian National Committee congratulates Congressman Paul for his success in spreading a message of peace, prosperity and freedom and also thanks the thousands of activists and supporters across the United States who have made this unprecedented success possible.

no, he did not, and seeing hows thing are... doesn't look lik ehe'll take them up on the offer

I remember hearing that he officially turned it down, but I may be incorrect.

i don't think he should accept their offer either. not to change the topic, but if he goes third party, i hope he goes "independent"

I still say if Ron Paul won't run as libertarian/independant/etc. that his son Rand should in his stead. That way we at least have SOMEONE to vote for in november who is not John McCain.

I wonder if the LNC needs an "official" endorsement from Ron Paul to run for president?

Couldn't Ron Paul unofficially accept the LNC offer and still remain with the Republican party until "after" the election? That way, he could still legally run for Congress (as a Republican) in his district in Texas -- which he wants to do.

In other words, couldn't the LNC get Ron Paul's name on the ballot in most states for the national election even if Ron Paul is not a member of their party?

I don't care as long as he goes, if he falls in line with this GOP that has fought us tooth and nail, I am done.

If he puts his congressional re-election ahead of the revolution, I am done.

We have people who gave up high paying jobs at google to work on making this happen. We have given more than we can afford, we have given time we didn't have and we busted our humps while the MSM and GOP conspired every step of the way to deny us. We have to battle to get the handful of delegates we won fairly.

I say we take whatever party is offering, Libertarian, Constitution, I don't care. Make the GOP kick you out from the Party.

What the hell has the GOP done for US?

When are we going to start calling these people out?

When will we start stating the facts, the Media has conspired against us, we are Americans and yet we are treated like "WE" are the enemy.

The Media won't give us coverage? OK then we make LIVE TV a thing of the past. We will not allow them to go live, morning shows, news, hell even weather reporters without us getting our message out. We storm TV station flood Radio calls, We are Americans and we will not be silenced.

If we are serious about this being a revolution, then we go where the Revolution takes us. It's that simple, if it means hitting the streets, stopping traffic, disrupting live broadcasts.

Otherwise this is a political campaign and it's only politics and those thing we claim to hold dear will be traded for some favors. I haven't been busting my rear to trade favors with candy asses I consider enemies of the constitution.

Ya'll let me know what you come up with, either we continue to grow exponentially or we peter out.
