Liberty House / Village

OK, but just to clarify - what do you think is reasonable for residency? We have had a few people state they wanted to move to and live in Iowa for the summer. Someone that makes Iowas their home for 3 months has become a state resident in my opinion. Not that much different than a student that has been there for a semester. More so, if they plan to stay through the primaries. That's a considerable amount of time to live in and contribute to the economy of the state.

I certainly was not suggesting that volunteers that come up for a week or two do this, and I don't think we have that many long term volunteers here. Perhaps 5-8 people have expressed an intent to do so, so far.

But ok - lets not promote that. I can see the bad PR, and there are few in that situation. Might be worth following a few Romney buses on their return trip, though... see where they go.

In the OP, Rachel said around June - are we waiting for the school kids to clear out? I'd like to get my tickets soon but I'm waiting on my paycheck lol.

I agree with not wanting to do anything Fox could spin back on us, although out of state college students going to ISU, UI etc should be fine.

Could we get a written statement from the Iowa GOP on what will/will not be considered cheating the vote?

Come to think of it, getting hundreds of RP supporters to become Iowa residents to vote in the poll isn't the brightest of ideas - though if we did pull that off, that'd be one for the ages lol.. What other presidential candidate has passionate enough supporters to get them to move to another state just to vote for them in a poll lol

Now you know why they call us Poll-tards.* :p
*Many of you already know: Most of the people who call us stupid names are simply reflecting their own level of knowledge.

I just found tickets from Orlando to Des Moines for about half the price I was expecting to pay. Whee! :) So I'm just waiting on finalization of this stuff before I purchase.

Is there anything I can do to help? If there is, just let me know.

Also, for anyone not aware, there is a July 19th Ames moneybomb. There's a facebook event for it just like for the last one.

We are losing focus here. Let's get a big house with a big yard for excess supporters if they want to camp out. A few dozen supporters becoming "Iowans" ain't gonna amount to a bucket of spit in the grand scheme of things.

YES! Bullseye. Bingo. That is 100% true and legit. The GOP may however require an Iowa ID for their private poll. You can get an Iowa ID with proof of rent, for $10. So, it is cheap and you can trade it back for your home state weeks/months later.

It is legal to vote in the Iowa Caucus too, so long as you do not vote in any other state's primary. So give up your vote in OH where it may not matter and vote in Iowa.

Consider this a mini Free State project.

Well I think you both just lost my support for any of your projects. It appears that you do have nefarious intent. Not only would this make the Ron Paul campaign look bad, and desperate.... it is very likely a criminal offense of fraud.

I didn't quote your post. My comments were directed towards RachelFaith.

There is a difference in getting the actual students of IA colleges to volunteer/vote and out of state volunteers moving in who volunteer/vote.

Do not organize out of staters with the intention of them voting. If anyone promotes this, they will be banned.

I agree Josh. I think this thread, the related posts, and those endorsing this illegal, and completely immoral idea need to be removed from the forums.

I am not suggesting anything of the kind. I was posting, as a lawyer, an answer to the questions raised. The legal requirements and minimums. I agree that the hint of suggesting thousands or hundreds of people attempt this is not only illegal, but highly unethical as well. But, I know for a fact that most all of the paid staff from out of state last time, did in fact register and participate in both calendar items last time. Of course the lived here for months, rather than weeks and while it is not suggested than any do so who do not in fact live legally, it is done and does present the reasonable doubt and thus should be avoided.

As a case in point, one person, who was out of state, but lived with a family for nearly 6 months, and jumped through all the hoops. had a state license an voter ID card, was still subject to verbal harassment as "why do you think you get any say", from members of other campaigns.

So, do not read anything else into this but the facts: And the most critical fact is this: It is a felony to vote in two states' primaries. If you are going to vote, you must vote in one and only one and you must do so lawfully and under oath. And it is very easy to register, which of course speaks to the issues of dead people. illegals and other problems thus associated.

And just to be clear, I am not advocating for fraud or unethical conduct of any sort, type or design, and certainly not for any coordinated effort with that intent.

Yep be careful here, if Foxnews finds out about this it will be all over the news, brought up in debates and the establishment will label us cheaters

I think it is safe to say that at least one person not on our side has read this thread. I wish these planning threads were in non-public sections of the site where you have to be at least registered and it is non-indexable to search engines.

That would be a very good idea for about 90% of the things we talk about. Any chance of that happening? Please?

What we could do is all add each other on facebook, then use the private message threads that can be seen by the whole group that's included within the message. My name is Mallory Searcy if anyone wants to add me. (Just include a message of who you are)

RachelFaith has only confused the issue.

There is a difference between the primary/caucus and the straw poll.

again:

Could we get a written statement from the Iowa GOP on what will/will not be considered cheating the vote?

This is a bad idea. Period. Anything we do will be called cheating. It may be technically legal like Rachel says, but we should not do it at all. My two cents.

Count me in, I'm ready to go to Iowa! The Ames Straw Poll is such an important event for our campaign. I'll be waiting for more details about how to participate when you get a building situated.

And based on the information we have, I do not plan on voting in the poll. I'll simply be campaigning and spreading liberty.
