I first read about the Common Law in Richard Maybury's books. Two rules I taught my kids:

1. I will do all that I say I will do.
2. I will not encroach on others or their property.

That's all. Pure and simple, workable, and easy to remember.

When I met Ron Paul, it was all over: Libertarian for life.

Number two can be expanded to become the non-aggression principle.

Number one can be expanded in some way. "Speak the truth even if it leads to your death" is one of my favourite quotes.

That isn't libertarianism.

1. Self-ownership
2. Original Appropriation.

There, you have libertarianism.
