Libertarian party begging email..."It's time to come home"

It more likely had to do with the public accusations that he was a racist, and the poor showings in NH and NV.

And the lack of willingness of anyone in here to actually canvass for Ron Paul, and the lack of competency on the part of the campaign, and the blimp people who split this group like the seam on a tight pair of jeans, and the ... you fill in the blank. There were a few hundred different problems with this campaign.

For Christ's sake. Is this forum going to move every thread that has the word Libertarian in it off the main page?

Republican - oh that is allowed. You can talk about that god forsaken party. But discuss Libertarianism and you are banned from a decent sized audience.

Thank you so much moderators. Trying to kill all of Ron Paul's ideas are you?

I'm a Libertarian Party member (as is Ron Paul) and fully support them. They've been fighting for liberty for more than three decades. Even if you think it's tactically better to work within the GOP, please recognize that their hearts are in the right place.

Poor showing in NV?

I'm unaware of a poor showing in NV. Even if the delegates cut exactly as the straw poll, Ron Paul has more delegates than any other Republican candidate. They didn't cut like the straw poll, though. He got many, many more delegates than proportion indicated by the straw poll.

Poor showing in NH?

I'm unaware of a poor showing in NH. We were very warmly received in NH. Although the 24 Paul supporters polled before the NH primary weren't indicative of overall support, we blew away the 1-2% we were supposed to get according to the talking craniums.

Win and win. If you expected more you should have gotten yourself a reality check or come out to help us (I was in both states as well as CA and AZ).

The Problem is...

That was my thought. The LP seems like a bunch of idealists with no ability to get their S together enough to be taken seriously.

The LP is a close-minded closet guarded by people who
quiver in terror at the very thought of an open public dialogue.
Your input is not welcome.

There exists far more Freedom and Liberty inside the Ron Paul campaign
than the goons who muzzle LP from within will ever even consider.

One example of how seriously they loathe freedom of speech within the LP
is demonstrated at TheLibertarianForum.com - Unite the Libertarians on a forum
Notice that the Texas portion of the LP is, in some small way, a little more tolerant
of discussion. it is still an icily indifferent crowd with no cohesion whatsoever.
They believe in Liberty but they loathe the idea of cooperation to achieve it.

Another blatant example is from their "Things you can do today!" page

* Stay informed! Be sure to subscribe to our e-mail list to receive regular updates regarding LP activities and issues.
which basically says they will tell you what to do!

* Spread the word! Tell a friend or an associate about the Libertarian Party by using our simple e-mail form.
which demonstrates that they wish you to recruit, without your input into their
process

* Volunteer! Your help is needed at state and local levels. Click here to request more information.
Request the information they have, in some dark corner of a locked room,
prepared in an effort to preclude your own input.

There is no option for your input. None, not one.

There is no dialogue at LP.org . They do not want to hear from you.
In two instances I personally know of, the ptb at LP indicated their
sheer indifference to people seeking their support from within the LP.
Is this any different to what Ron Paul experiences in the GOP ??
NO! None whatsoever.
They want your votes, your support, your money - but not your dialogue.

The current LP organization is a useless dead-end because the principals
who run the LP will never open the door to the kind of grassroots freedom
we have seen here. The very idea is, to them, pure poison.

This place, right here at ronpaulforums.com, is the pinnacle of political freedom
never before seen in the history of American politics.

You need join no other campaign.
Those who desire more freedom and stronger liberty need to join us.

I believe in the Libertarian principle. The Party of Principle is, however, LINO.
The way the LP is shackled and raped by the ones who rule its nest
is a travesty equal in magnitude to the way the GOP was duped by neocons.
The day they open the door to public discourse is the day I will return.
I get the feeling Hell will be knee deep in ice long before that happens.

I like parties, just not political parties.

How about a no-party system? It's time has come.

A Message From The Libertarians

Here is something that might be of interest for all the third party advocates:

February 9, 2008

FROM THE LIBERTARIAN PARTY:
Dear friend,

Late Friday evening, Ron Paul sent out a message to his many supporters stating that he had a "nearly zero" chance of winning the Republican nomination in a brokered convention. Dr. Paul also stated loud and clear that "there will be no third party run."

Many of our own members, maybe even you, have been enthusiastic supporters of Dr. Paul's campaign over the past year. Many thousands have given their time, money and their passion to support the efforts of Ron Paul's presidential campaign.

The efforts of these thousands of supporters were noble, but in the end, Republicans rejected Dr. Paul's message of peace, prosperity and freedom.

The GOP will more than likely move forward with the nomination of a compromising politician who does not cherish the merits of liberty and shows little interest in shrinking the size and power of government.

This leaves the Republican Party right where it started and where it has been for many, many years -- a party without principle. With its partner on the left, both parties continue to represent a compromising beast that continually thirsts for more power at the expense of our liberty, our property and our privacy.

In stark contrast, the Libertarian Party stands firm. Our values are unwavering. Our commitment is unstoppable.

This is not because we hold a strong partisan loyalty to our party structure, it's because we have trust and love for liberty in its purest form. Our party serves as the vessel to affect change within our nation. And unlike the GOP, we don't need to change the party from within and regain our principles, as they have never been lost.

The Libertarian Party is the last remaining stronghold for liberty in American politics.

Unfortunately, the Ron Paul campaign has unintentionally taken a toll on our party. Many of our members have changed their voter registration to vote for Ron Paul in a primary while others have allowed their support to lapse as they gave all that they could for a candidate that represented their values.

Early on, I made the decision to not interfere or discourage this activity. I felt it was wrong for me to place our party above such an incredible opportunity for liberty that existed with Dr. Paul's run for the White House.

But today, it's time to come home.

If you have switched your party registration, allowed your membership to lapse or have put off your decision to join the LP, I now ask that you reverse course and renew your support for our principled party.

In spite of the events of this past year, we were still able to make significant gains in membership with a 28 percent increase while we moved onto a firm financial footing. We did this while seeing inspiring electoral success by winning 20 percent of our races.

This proves that Americans are waking up to liberty and a historic opportunity for growth exists for the LP in 2008. However, in order to take advantage of this time, we need every last man and woman back in our party.

It's time to come home.

Liberty is alive in America today but it is suppressed by the significance and power of the two-party system. Partisanship, combined with ignorance, is destroying our nation by taking away our freedoms and even the lives of those we love through wars of aggression.

The two-party system must be beaten back and destroyed.

Fighting from within either the Republican or Democratic structure does nothing to accomplish this goal and only increases our many problems as time, energy and money is wasted to change a monstrosity that is corrupt beyond repair.

Why fight to move your own party in the direction of freedom when you can fight each day to move your nation in the direction of freedom?

It's time to come home.

Liberty is something that can be everything to one man and nothing to another. Some accept that, while they are born free, they do not live free. They go about their existence either in resignation that they cannot change their personal destiny or they have grown comfortable in their shackles.

Libertarians are different.

Our hearts burn for freedom. We wake each morning, intent on moving our nation in the direction of liberty.

Our passion cannot be diminished or compromised through party labels or the actions of cunning men. Libertarians working through the Libertarian Party will continually challenge those who mean to enslave us through taxation, fear and warfare.

It's time to come home.

Among the many opportunities that exist for our movement, one of the most important is reaching out to the thousands of men and women whose passions have been ignited by the Ron Paul campaign.

All Libertarians must put out a welcome mat to these Americans as they continue to learn more about liberty but are now politically homeless. Most importantly, we must tolerate the minor differences that we may have and accept the differing stages of development of our political thought.

Many of you will be receiving a letter in the mail with the intent of welcoming Ron Paul and his supporters into our party. While that letter was written before the rush of recent events, it is vital that you respond to signal your support for giving these supporters a home within our party.

It's time to come home and to offer a home to those whose minds have been opened to liberty.

Also, do not hesitate to contact me or any other member of our staff by calling 1-800-Elect-Us.

Please take action after you finish reading this message.

In closing, I would like to give the following words to those who stubbornly continue their fight to change the corrupt and destructive Republican or Democrat parties from within.

"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen." – Samuel Adams, 1776

Our founding fathers did not hope to change the tyranny of British rule from within. They faced their challenge head on. They did not waver, even in spite of the very real possibility that they would lose their very lives against an overwhelming power. They stood together, and eventually they won their freedom.

It is up to us -- we passionate Libertarians -- to reclaim our liberty.

With respect and sincerity,

Shane Cory

Sorry, this kind of thread is not allowed in the main room. Nothing with the title Libertarian is. We had this posted a little while ago and it was moved somewhere.

HA! This is laughable.
This is what Harry Browne (R.I.P.) told us for many years, when he managed to get at the most .5% of the popular vote and never even came close to RP's numbers. We tried the LP's philosophy that you "can't change the two major parties" for decades, and Ron Paul has done more in the past year to advance liberty and freedom than all of the LP's presidential candidates combined.

Why should we listen to the LP when we have proven that IT CAN BE DONE within the republican party?

25% in Montana!
20% in Maine!
21% in Washington!
19% in Minnesota!

We didn't win the whole thing but clearly, we're not messing around. The GOP MUST change now or it will dissolve.

We're WINNING, now is not the time to start listening to the LP again.

You can be a member of the LP and still be registered Republican. That is, after all, what Dr. Paul does.

Those numbers might look better if there were more than three people in the race, or 4 in some place.

Libertarians,

Take some time. We are all very upset with the Republican Party, you don't just walk away and say f u, I'm gone. Why? Because this country is a two party system, when you figure that out, like I did, you will tough it up and then point all your frustrations and anger in one direction. That direction is taking over the Republican Party(one of the two parties), and doing it from the dirt up, one postition at a time.

Start out attending the local meetings/events in your county. Be stealth about it, you will find many of us are already doing this. And yes, most are libertarians!

The Republican party has already crashed, we are merely going to walk in and take it back from these liars and traitors.

Onward, we will charge, quietly, and then loudly..ARRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!

The communists/socialists did this to us. They took over every position of power, very slow and methodical, using stealth, as their cover. Now we know, and now we must take it back.

Take the Republican Party BACK. Imagine if we don't. A third party doesn't work.

Get off your asses and get your buddies and meetup members and go to your local GOP county meetings, and observe, watch, listen. Then strategize, neturalize, and find the avenues to obtain the power centers.
