FROM THE LIBERTARIAN PARTY:
Dear friend,

Late Friday evening, Ron Paul sent out a message to his many supporters stating that he had a "nearly zero" chance of winning the Republican nomination in a brokered convention. Dr. Paul also stated loud and clear that "there will be no third party run."

Many of our own members, maybe even you, have been enthusiastic supporters of Dr. Paul's campaign over the past year. Many thousands have given their time, money and their passion to support the efforts of Ron Paul's presidential campaign.

The efforts of these thousands of supporters were noble, but in the end, Republicans rejected Dr. Paul's message of peace, prosperity and freedom.

The GOP will more than likely move forward with the nomination of a compromising politician who does not cherish the merits of liberty and shows little interest in shrinking the size and power of government.

This leaves the Republican Party right where it started and where it has been for many, many years -- a party without principle. With its partner on the left, both parties continue to represent a compromising beast that continually thirsts for more power at the expense of our liberty, our property and our privacy.

In stark contrast, the Libertarian Party stands firm. Our values are unwavering. Our commitment is unstoppable.

This is not because we hold a strong partisan loyalty to our party structure, it's because we have trust and love for liberty in its purest form. Our party serves as the vessel to affect change within our nation. And unlike the GOP, we don't need to change the party from within and regain our principles, as they have never been lost.

The Libertarian Party is the last remaining stronghold for liberty in American politics.

Unfortunately, the Ron Paul campaign has unintentionally taken a toll on our party. Many of our members have changed their voter registration to vote for Ron Paul in a primary while others have allowed their support to lapse as they gave all that they could for a candidate that represented their values.

Early on, I made the decision to not interfere or discourage this activity. I felt it was wrong for me to place our party above such an incredible opportunity for liberty that existed with Dr. Paul's run for the White House.

But today, it's time to come home.

If you have switched your party registration, allowed your membership to lapse or have put off your decision to join the LP, I now ask that you reverse course and renew your support for our principled party.

In spite of the events of this past year, we were still able to make significant gains in membership with a 28 percent increase while we moved onto a firm financial footing. We did this while seeing inspiring electoral success by winning 20 percent of our races.

This proves that Americans are waking up to liberty and a historic opportunity for growth exists for the LP in 2008. However, in order to take advantage of this time, we need every last man and woman back in our party.

It's time to come home.

Liberty is alive in America today but it is suppressed by the significance and power of the two-party system. Partisanship, combined with ignorance, is destroying our nation by taking away our freedoms and even the lives of those we love through wars of aggression.

The two-party system must be beaten back and destroyed.

Fighting from within either the Republican or Democratic structure does nothing to accomplish this goal and only increases our many problems as time, energy and money is wasted to change a monstrosity that is corrupt beyond repair.

Why fight to move your own party in the direction of freedom when you can fight each day to move your nation in the direction of freedom?

It's time to come home.

Liberty is something that can be everything to one man and nothing to another. Some accept that, while they are born free, they do not live free. They go about their existence either in resignation that they cannot change their personal destiny or they have grown comfortable in their shackles.

Libertarians are different.

Our hearts burn for freedom. We wake each morning, intent on moving our nation in the direction of liberty.

Our passion cannot be diminished or compromised through party labels or the actions of cunning men. Libertarians working through the Libertarian Party will continually challenge those who mean to enslave us through taxation, fear and warfare.

It's time to come home.

Among the many opportunities that exist for our movement, one of the most important is reaching out to the thousands of men and women whose passions have been ignited by the Ron Paul campaign.

All Libertarians must put out a welcome mat to these Americans as they continue to learn more about liberty but are now politically homeless. Most importantly, we must tolerate the minor differences that we may have and accept the differing stages of development of our political thought.

Many of you will be receiving a letter in the mail with the intent of welcoming Ron Paul and his supporters into our party. While that letter was written before the rush of recent events, it is vital that you respond to signal your support for giving these supporters a home within our party.

It's time to come home and to offer a home to those whose minds have been opened to liberty.

Take action today:

To renew your membership, go to www.lp.org/renew

To join the Libertarian Party, go to www.lp.org/join

To donate, go to www.lp.org/donate

To change your voter registration to Libertarian, contact your state party, by visiting www.lp.org/states

Also, do not hesitate to contact me or any other member of our staff by calling 1-800-Elect-Us.

Please take action after you finish reading this message.

In closing, I would like to give the following words to those who stubbornly continue their fight to change the corrupt and destructive Republican or Democrat parties from within.

"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen." – Samuel Adams, 1776

Our founding fathers did not hope to change the tyranny of British rule from within. They faced their challenge head on. They did not waver, even in spite of the very real possibility that they would lose their very lives against an overwhelming power. They stood together, and eventually they won their freedom.

It is up to us -- we passionate Libertarians -- to reclaim our liberty.

With respect and sincerity,

Shane Cory
Executive Director
Libertarian National Committee

Just got that. Not sure how I feel about it.

I will come home when my primary is done...i'm tired of the GOP...like the British..we will fight them head on since they refuse to change...death to them I say...death to them...Liberty...Liberty...

I dont like the Republican Party, the Democratic Party, or the Libertarian Party.

I'll just vote for whatever person I agree with. In this case it was Ron Paul who is a Republican. Next time, it might be someone from a different party.

"There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties, each arranged under its leader, and concerting measures in opposition to each other. This, in my humble apprehension, is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our Constitution." – John Adams

I think the general message of that email is right on, I just think they did it poorly.

I'll vote Libertarian. And a lot of non-RP Conservatives will consider the Libertarian Party due to this Mccain nonsense.

To the Libertarian Party:

Ron Paul individually has already done more for America than you can ever do. He is the only "Libertarian" who has got any media attention at all. You need to continue to support him. He has a chance of making this big and advancing Libertarian beliefs.

That was my thought. The LP seems like a bunch of idealists with no ability to get their S together enough to be taken seriously.

Libertarian here, my thoughts and votes likely going in their direction. I haven't done enough for Dr. Paul, yet, though.

Would really like to see the LP ENDORSE Paul...not nominate, officially on the ballot, but to endorse him for this campaign and help get him ballot access or nation-wide encourage a write-in campaign for Ron Paul (R). Maybe not even nominate a presidential candidate this year, focus on the state and local elections and give Paul official endorsement.

QFT.

They can go back to getting 0.5% of the national vote. We're going to work to change things.

Oh believe me, LP, I'm done with the GOP after PA's primary. But I'm not joining your party. I'm going back to unaffiliated. Leave it to politics to make me shudder when I hear the word "party." To think, before I woke up to Dr. Paul, that word brought thoughts of booze and buddies. Sigh.

If they can pull 20% in Presidential election, and we the Paul grassroots could add another 10 to 15 %, the two parties would have a big problem, even this year in this election.

These guys are no quitters and are organized, have money and are ready to go as far as being on the ballot in every state. I think it is the way to go in light of the last 24 hours. If we can join their group and hopefully pull in the independents we can win the election this year.

Staying pissed and splintered is the neocons dream. we need to pull every group together. The Independents, Libertarians, truthers, greenies and others and whip the crap out of the Donkey and Elephant..........blast congress and the Senate with new members from the new third Party.

i am sorry to say people are pissed at Paul now, they are realizing he has dumped us read for yourself and Monday morning it will be a blood bath........

Ron Paul's Goodbye
Commentary
2-9-8

The real issue now is that Ron Paul is effectively out of the race ....whether he directly came out and said it or not. In his statement of thanks to his supporters (see below), he also announced he's cutting his staff way back. The message is clear.

The last Ron Paul 'money bomb' showed a substantial loss of support momentum...which was/is largely the result of his complete public disassociation and denouncement of the entire 911 Truth Movement during that national 'debate' several weeks ago.

That was either a bald-faced, enormous, lie to try to keep himself politically 'alive' ... OR that is HIS truth.

Either way, it cost him a lot of support.

We know several Ron Paul backers who dropped him at that moment... and it was reflected in the failed, subsequent fundraising.

His poor showing (absolutely expected) in the primaries was the final truth his devoted supporters had to swallow: the system is totally owned and operated by the controllers. Period.

Many Paulites will now walk away from this obviously, hopelessly corrupt and manipulated political charade in America...and will never look back. Some will stay.

Ron announced."I am a Republican, and I will remain a Republican"and will not leave the party to run as an independent. (A Paul-Kucinich ticket would have at least been FUN).

WHAT Republican party?? That was a lamentable statement to read. Ron must be thinking it is still the Republican Party of the 19th century.

The Republican 'party' NOW stands for the BIG LIE, it stands for CRIME and DEATH, for GENOCIDE and PERVERSION, for TAXATION and GRAFT, for the FED and FINANCIAL RAPE, for DOMESTIC SPYING and the PATRIOT ACT, ...it stands for the end of LIBERTY and of our CONSTITUTION. Above all, it now stands for Zionism and WAR.

That statement alone probably ended about half of his remaining support. As we said many months ago, if he does NOT run as an independent, he will effectively put 'finis' to great portion of the majority of patriotic passion and commitment of the small, brave patriotic awakening he awakened in this rat hole political paradigm. And if the controllers are as smart as we think, they may well have orchestrated much of the 'Paul phenomena' to ultimately send the message, yet again, that 'resistance is futile!'

Ron said he needs to go home to Texas and work for his re-election to the House. That's a wise decision because the enemies of freedom and the Constitution, knowing all along he never had a chance in hell of gaining the nomination, will now try to unseat him...and they can do so if it be their will. Ask Cynthia McKinney.

So, even though he says he's 'still in the race' it is totally meaningless. Publicly, via his disassociation from 911 Truth, he is 'officially' standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Bush/Cheney and Zionism on 911.

He had a GREAT opportunity to bring 911 Truth forward during the campaign...and chose to hide it.

And, God forbid, if he really spoke HIS truth in the debate about the whole 911 issue, he is clearly, totally, disconnected from the biggest reality of our time: that 911 was an inside job.

Sad to see him give it up...but it was totally predictable and comes as no surprise. For his die-hard supporters and those who cherish America's nearly vanquished past magnificence, keep at it. Work at the local level...run for office... just know that the clock is ticking and the enemies of Freedom stand all around us and often in between us.

Of all the great American political leaders who sacrificed their lives for freedom, Ron chose, instead, to quote the zionist maniac killer Communist Trotsky about the 'revolution being permanent.' A strange choice. The statement could have been made without the need to acknowledge a Bolshevik madman.

In any case, the 'Ron Paul Revolution' is over... now just a footnote, an asterisk, in the grim record of these darkening times. Certainly, some will endeavor to carry on his themes...something the CIA/NSA supercomputer models knew and predicted long ago.

Ron Paul is a grand anachronism...a principled man out of time, as it were. He truly made a difference. And for that we owe him much.

If anything, it should be the other way around. This round Ron Paul probably got more exposure for his ideas and more support than any of the prior Libertarian candidates combined. Weren't the Libertarians once part of the Republicans before they broke off? It's time THEY come home. Sticking it out as a separate party will take DECADES to get anything accomplished, and that's only if they get really, really lucky.

Taking back the Republican party will only be a matter of years if we all setup a mini-tent inside the tent of the Republicans. Work to change from within, and support all those that pass the Ron Paul litmus test. And if the Republicans fight back? Vote the party most likely to beat the RINOS that we don't approve of. It'll hurt to go against principles and put other candidates in office, but the long term benefit will be that Republicans will not be able to ignore us. Playing hard ball is the only way to take back the party quickly, but it can be done.

I don't know anyone of any intelligence that takes that website seriously.

Alien abductions, crop circles and ghost stories... and a cutting off Ron Paul... laughable to say the least.

Keep the party, change the platform.
The GOP can be taken over by enthusiastic liberty lovers like ourselves.

I'm going to work to get the rest of the people out of the GOP and let that party go down in flames. Parties do fall apart. The GOP is crumbling. I can't wait to watch them fall. I will be joining the Libertarians to fight for liberty.

I find it disheartening that so many sheep in here dislike the Libertarian party. Prior to Ron Paul's running, most of you had never heard of him. Us Libertarians have been reading his articles for years.

Now, sadly, the one party that Ron Paul truly represents is the one that many of his supporters have an insane hatred against. It is insane because everything that Ron Paul stands for, so does the Libertarian party. Find me one Republican who believes in small government. Every Libertarian does.

It seems that most of the people here are as brainwashed against Libertarians thanks to the mainstream media as the general public was brainwashed against Ron Paul and for the exact same reasons. Both want smaller government, less concentrated power, money returned to the citizens and yet, so many here are willing to hate the party that once allowed you to vote for Ron Paul for President.

It seems that Ron Paul's message did not go very far at all. I wonder if any of you actually ever did understand him.

Destroy the GOP, it is falling down on its own, let it keep falling. Let it crash and burn. Let's have something to replace it with.

I am dismayed at the attitude of folks like KyleAF and DDMX. Why such hatred toward a party that believes in liberty and freedom? What is it about this official statement that you condemn so?: Libertarians believe the answer to America's political problems is the same commitment to freedom that earned America its greatness: a free-market economy and the abundance and prosperity it brings; a dedication to civil liberties and personal freedom that marks this country above all others; and a foreign policy of non-intervention, peace, and free trade as prescribed by America's founders."

And where did you learn all this vile hatred anyway?

I see that email as an invitation. I do want to come home. I don't want hang out with evil anymore. This is a mission statement of the National Republican Party:
• Strengthening our Military.
• Deploying a missile defense system.
• Strengthening our ties NATO.
• Protecting the homeland and acheiving a sustained level of success and progress in Iraq.

Besides the fact that they cannot spell, clearly they are a party of hate and war. I don't want to help them get one step further. In fact, everything I can do in my power to destroy that party at every turn I will do.

I will call all Republicans that I can and ask them to register for different parties. I will spend all my time trying to end that group of evil, murdering, slaughtering, pigs.

They destroyed Ron Paul. They laughed at him on stages. They refused to allow him to speak at their functions. They killed the one chance to save this country and have what they pretend they want. If they wanted fiscal conservatism they would have supported and helped Ron Paul. If they wanted to rule the world with NATO and the UN and other groups they would have backed Romney, McCain, Giuliani and Huckabee. Since we know which side they backed, I will be damned if I support that party. Truly damned.

It more likely had to do with the public accusations that he was a racist, and the poor showings in NH and NV.
