We did work together but I wouldn't say it was entirely seamless. There were some pretty heated arguments over wording and what policy issues should be added or left out. But in the end the final product was really good and I don't think anybody was unhappy with it.

I remember someone mentioned the idea of an airplane banner ad I think in June of '07 (I had been a lurker for a couple months prior to joining).

A couple people locally called around but weren't able to get an ad for a reasonable price or it fell through, but I started calling on my own and found a place available for the fourth of July.

So I shouted out to my RP brothers and sisters on this forum and I start getting my paypal account filled with some people donating and a bunch of locals threw down some cash to actually do this thing.

Unbelievable.

It was the first RP Airplane ad, and while it wasn't the best since it was a bit rainy and cloudy, it was so worth it considering the idea was copied many times over!

Who knew a year later we'd have a RP BLIMP!

I'm not taking credit for the idea of AIR ads because I can't remember who wondered aloud about the idea, but like many of you said, it was so exciting to see people moving towards a common cause and the spontaneous creativity of ideas. Ideas that had never been done before and yet being able to overcome the obstacles of resources and time, and having it come to fruition.

It was an exciting time.


Prior to that, I remember going to a Marlins game with 20-30 people (one of the first meetups) and almost getting tossed out for the Ron Paul for President signs we kept holding up, hoping to get his name on TV.

In the spirit of playing nice in light of my harsh comments on a recent departure I will take a moment to focus purely on the old joy that could be found in the forums.

The difference between then and now is then we lived and breathed hope every minute of every day. Dr. Paul was the cure for apathy.

The forums back then was where we expressed our interactions with the real world to each other. We all found hope in Ron Paul. We believed in him. We supported him. When someone said Ron Paul did not have a chance it fueled us. Defeat was not an option.

There were many ideas, inspiration, and motivation to be found on the forum. We literally created magic. The liberty fire was rekindled.

Who remembers the excitement of the December 16? That was exciting. We crashed the web. What about when Ron Paul got on the conference call that was simulcast? OMG we crashed the internet then too.
