Looks to me that he's playing politics. Seems like he thinks Ron's shot is very slim and would rather bite his tongue so he isn't ousted by the party.

The truth is this sentiment pervades because the grassroots are too lazy when it comes to the local and state elections and want an excuse not to help out candidates so they can instead focus all their time and energy on a lost POTUS campaign.

that's up to Josh. I don't know if Ron is removing his endorsement. Likely not, Ron would think he would be doing it from ego, and he is very hard on himself in that regard.

This is exactly my feelings on the subject, this sentiment is what originally brought me out of my apathy towards our government and political system. Now I"m supposed to support those that don't stick to their promises and principles?

I would rather he endorse Gary Johnson, but that has basically no upside politically. Its unrealistic to expect politicians and candidates to make perfectly principled decisions when 90% of the voting public won't reward a candidate for being principled. I saw this from Friedman and it seems applicable.

Exactly. Sure, we all know what endorsements can and can't do. We know that, in some cases, they are just words used to pick up some votes and/or gain a favorable footing within the party. Some even have negative consequences. We all know what an endorsement is.

So, don't tell me that you stand for LIBERTY and support the one man who has never compromised in a very long and impressive tenure in D.C. and then turn around and endorse establishment nitwits.

I retweeted a quote today that I found absolutely brilliant and completely relevant:

"America is at that awkward stage. It's too late to work within the system, but too early to shoot the bastards." – Claire Wolfe

At this point, I don't know who Claire Wolfe is and don't care. The quote applies in this context that working within the system will corrupt you. However, if you don't, you can't get anything done! So, what do you do? Stand for principle, or work within the system long enough to become corrupted by all of it's inner workings?

How do you blame the grassroots for this? And what is the point of working fingers to bone for local and state candidates who will eventually run for the House or Senate and stab us in the back by endorsing some clown for POTUS in his/her party?

You all wanted GOP, this is what you get. You can't be part of the party and then when a presidential election comes around expect that you can get away with not supporting the candidate! Being a team player is all-important in partisan politics. It doesn't matter to them if Romney will do exactly what Obama has been doing...what matters is that Obama will no longer be the one doing it!

that's a utilitarian argument and doesn't help when your personal value system is principled.
