[Kickoff 2012] NFL Football is Back: Discuss your games here.

again, new england already has a NFL team

and it's about the same distance from manch as mesa is to glendale

Ok. PORTLAND, OR. needs an NFL team. And an MLB team. Been saying this for years.

No way. The leagues are already stretching the talent pool, there are probably 1-2 teams from each pro league that could get the axe.

Well, I'm glad the Ravens won. I hope they win the Super Bowl.

Not sure how you blow a 17 point lead AT HOME, either. Way to go, ATL.

The answer to the last part is JIM HARBAUGH.

Ravens won last night for the last time this season. I'm sticking with my prediction of the 49ers winning 23-13.

It'll be a good game. The Harbaughs are both great coaches who will be back to another Super Bowl before they finish coaching. Kaepernick is bound to be a star if he can stay healthy. I would probably cheer for the Niners if they were playing any other team (DEFINITELY if they were playing the Patriots).

All that said... Ravens 24, 49ers 20 :D

I don't mean add more teams. Just move them around. The Cleveland Browns need a new owner. They've barely even tried to pretend to be an NFL team in their 14 seasons back in the league. A new owner may move them. The Bills seem to be interested in moving to Toronto. The Jaguars are a good candidate as a new L.A. team. Goodell has talked about eventually expanding to add teams in Europe.

The Jaguars were rumored as a possible team to move to Portland.

We shall see :D It's gonna be a great game. With possible rematches of it for at least the next decade. I've followed the Ravens since they became the Ravens. I'd be rooting for them against any other team.

Seahawks QB Russell Wilson added to NFC pro bowl team after Ryan reports injury.

Feb 2 is the anouncement of awards. Rookie award should go to Wilson.

Wilson wants his contract re worked...yeah...no kidding.

The current Pro Bowl format is hysterical. There are roughly 130 Pro Bowlers, and possibly more. Get rid of the game and just name the teams. With so many players making the game, it gets watered down. I am all for contraction, especially in the NBA. It won't happen because of the money, but it should.

@JFK III: The Browns were sold. Jimmy Haslam bought the team last year from Randy Lerner. That's why they cleaned house this past season. It will be a new era in Browns Football.

i've always liked the concept of the Pro Bowl. Gives most of the losers to shine one more time, and it's all about having fun....

Just for historical interest, I made a similar prediction before the Raiders/Buccaneers Superbowl. It was obvious that the Raiders needed to radically change up their Offense before that game. Their "pass every down" game plan would not work against the Buccaneers. They needed to focus on the run, and put in the tougher, smash-mouth running back Wheatley instead of finesse guy Garner. Gannon was not good under pressure, and passing every down made him an easy target. Alas, Bill Callahan proved to be the lesser coach against Gruden.

Interesting coincidence that this subject has blown up all of a sudden.

"We get our game plan for victory on Monday, and the game plan says we’re gonna run the ball,” Brown said last Saturday on SiriusXM NFL Radio (via Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com). “We averaged 340 (pounds) on the offensive line, they averaged 280 (on the defensive line). We’re all happy with that, everybody is excited. (We) tell Charlie Garner, ‘Look, you’re not gonna get too many carries, but at the end of the day we’re gonna get a victory. Tyrone Wheatley, Zack Crockett, let’s get ready to blow this thing up'."
..."But the facts are what they are, that less than 36 hours before the game we changed our game plan.

“There may be something to what Mr. Brown has been saying,” told 97.5 The Fanatic in Philly. “I really don’t know the validity of which he [Callahan] despised the Raiders but I also know that he didn’t want to be there, too.”

Regardless of the reason, Garner agreed that something happened. “We came out with another game plan and it just was not what we practiced. . . . We as an organization and as a team had been through a lot of adversity so we were accustomed to it. Had we just stuck to the original game plan, I believe that we would have been successful.”

Many other players (Rice, Garner, Ritchie, etc.) have confirmed that the game plan was changed at the last minute. Jerry Rice is the only one that has chimed in that Callahan didn't like them, although even that fact would not mean that Callahan intentionally threw the game. That's not a believable hypothesis. The next year it became clear that Callahan really didn't like many of the players or the organization though, and left on bad terms.

It's interesting how the former players who are currently employed in the football business have been the most critical of Brown's story. Some are even denying the game plan changed, which is ridiculous. That change is confirmed by far too many people.

The whole situation is an interesting microcosm of politics.
