For the Republican establishment, Amash may be more an amusing spectacle than a serious threat. After the first ask, the GOP leadership doesn’t bother whipping Amash on votes. Committee chairs have learned he’s not likely to budge and usually don’t try to negotiate with him. No congressman is an island, but Amash comes close.
What is clear is that the majority of Amash’s Facebook interlocutors share his interest in Austrian economics, libertarian philosophy, and the politics of Ron Paul. In fact, Amash may be more the true heir to the elder Paul’s libertarian throne than his son Rand Paul, the Kentucky senator (and Romney endorser).
HOw I hope and pray that someday can send him a copy of this when he's being sworn into office as President, for this bit alone.
The media can't seems to tolerate anyone with principles.
I love Amash, and what I love even more is that my support for him is as passionate as RP's. I'm glad that he will be taking the reins after Ron.
“He is a well-intentioned guy with very different goals than most people up here,” said one House Republican aide. “He’s not interested in governing.”
That article is pretty much what I would expect from The Weekly Standard.
Amash is friggin awesome!

I think we should support his run as a Presidential nominee even if not immediately. Rand makes too many mistakes within his own constituency for the purists in our movement. I think we should consider supporting Amash when we have more of our people in leadership positions across the country so we can deal with what happened with Ron across the country and rout the corrupt members attempt.
Amash has made a few mistakes as well, and he was thin-skinned in response to criticisms of his Israel aid vote. Not sure he'll do well in higher politics.

I agree. I like Amash, but it doesn't seem like he responds well to criticism of his votes.
