Wrote in Ron Paul/Barry Goldwater for president/vice president.

My state will not "count" my vote as he's not registered as a write in. After a lot of thought I realize that makes no difference to me.

I voted for the person I thought was best for the job. I was going to vote for Baldwin, but realized that my reasoning for doing so ("because it will count") was very like the reasoning that people are using to try and get us to vote for the R&D parties. What is the point of holding your nose and voting? Might as well vote for Mclame if I want to do that.

If we all vote for those we think best the system will eventually right itself.

Voted straight L. for Senate/Congress.

Now - off to cafepress to buy a "don't blame me - I voted Ron Paul" bumper sticker :D

Welcome to the RP writein club! If nothing else the republican poll workers are going to be seeing all the write ins and that word will be brought back to the local committees. the word will get out!

I'd love to see the look on the poll workers face when he\she gets my ballot that has Ron Paul and 2 L. candidates on it :D
Hopefully they see enough of them to make them start to think.

thats awesome matt.

where have u been? havent seen u on teamspeak lately.. we miss you.

I admire your act of voting for your conscience. :)
Thanks.

He didn't vote his conscience, he didn't vote.
Who the heck are you to make assumptions about MY conscience?
And I DID vote. You just don't like my vote.

Been sick and offline a lot recently (had strep throat) plus I got a new computer, got a lot of stuff including TS to re-install.

Thanks.

Uhhhhh... how can it be a vote if it's not counted? All you're doing is filling out a piece of paper and taking up space with it... well I'm sure you voted on the local level, so ya =o

I'll have to agree that writing in Ron Paul is the same as not voting (well if he's not eligible for write-in in your state anyways).

I placed Ron Paul on the write in portion of the ballot. Thereby giving him one vote.

Just because there is no formal way that it will be recorded by the state doesn't make it any less of a vote.

I applaud your vote and will be doing the same thing regardless of whether anyone thinks I either didn't vote or wasted my vote.

Chuck Baldwin didn't reach out to me. Ron Paul did. That's whose name I'm writing down.

But a vote is essentially defined by something that is counted

It's like you have a group of friends who decide to vote on which movie to go to, but they decide they won't see Batman because most of them already saw it. So everyone votes for a movie and to one of your friends you go "I still want to see Batman." Turns out Batman wasn't even playing in the first place! Everyone else then excludes you from the decision because you aren't making any sense by talking about a movie that hasn't been in theaters for months

Vote
Pronunciation:
\ˈvōt\
Function:
noun

Middle English (Scots), from Latin votum vow, wish — more at vow
Date:
15th century

1 a: a usually formal expression of opinion or will in response to a proposed decision ; especially : one given as an indication of approval or disapproval of a proposal, motion, or candidate for office b: the total number of such expressions of opinion made known at a single time (as at an election) c: an expression of opinion or preference that resembles a vote d: ballot 12: the collective opinion or verdict of a body of persons expressed by voting3: the right to cast a vote ; specifically : the right of suffrage : franchise4 a: the act or process of voting <brought the question to a vote> b: a method of voting5: a formal expression of a wish, will, or choice voted by a meeting6 a: voter b: a group of voters with some common and identifying characteristics <the labor vote>7chiefly British a: a proposition to be voted on ; especially : a legislative money item b: appropriation

Just because the state has no mechanism in place to properly keep track of my vote gives me no reason whatsoever to vote anything other than my own personal choice.

I also voted today. The county auditor's office was pretty busy. I opened the curtain of the voting booth to ask her if the entire ballot would be spoiled if I cast a write-in vote for president. She assured me that my other votes would count whether I cast a write-in vote or simply abstained in the presidential race. I suppose everyone knew whose name I wrote since my daughter was running around the room chanting, "Ron Paul, Ron Paul, Ron Paul." (Now I just need to convince her to chant, "End the Fed.")

I voted against every incumbent on the ballot--Harkin, Loebsack, and even our local state rep who voted for the smoking ban.

Still it would have been better if u just voted for baldwin or something. Writing in Ron Paul is like not voting at all. Ron wanted the country to see our numbers through the third party candidates.
