Just voted in SC...this is going to be a mess

So I'm assuming the voters don't make it out until the evening, since no one is showing up yet really? I read that in 200, over 500,000 people voted in SC.

with all the tech savy rp supporters cant we rig some machines for RP, thats how the republicans won and I am sure it happened in NH so its just fighting fire with fire...

We represent Ron Paul. HE does not cheat. WE do not cheat. We cannot defeat evil by becoming evil. Stop this nonsensical talk. These threads are picked up everywhere on the internet. You are harming Ron Paul by saying this garbage. Don't forget the edit button when you speak out of turn.

Sorry guys, no video...I didn't even think about it. Good news, it *looks* like no vote fraud (just incompetence by the poll worker and buggy machines, for what that's worth). The machine should have shown the confirmation screen, but even though it did not, the votes were cast.

I'm in Columbia, to the guy who asked. Both machines there were affected, so you would know if you were at my precinct, because you would have had the same issue.

The election commission responded very quickly (there were at the polling location within a half hour of me calling them), so cheers to them!

After examining the machines, they said that the number of voters who had signed in matched the number of votes counted on the machines, so that's a plus. They tested the machine and said that it was now showing the "Thank you" screen confirming the votes.

I feel like I'm as satisfied with this resolution as I can be. I really appreciate how helpful the election commissions was in this matter. The poll worker was either incompetent or improperly trained, but it was certain that he was not helpful and bordering on rude. The election commission people said he should have alerted them to the problem, and he should have known that the screen I got was not what was supposed to show up after you cast your vote.

Unfortunately, I think the poll worker who I accused of being improperly trained will not be inviting me to his neighborhood bar-b-q in the spring :P

Please, people in SC, pay attention! Make sure you get a confirmation that your vote has been cast. It may or may not really be counted (depending on who you believe), but don't let the error happen right in front of you!

Also, you can't get a paper ballot with curbside voting. These machines are made to be taken out the the curb. Information about these machines here: http://www.scvotes.org/2008/01/01/how_to_vote

Well lets hope this whole voting thing is really confusing on the machines, because I have faith that a Ron Paul supporter can figure it out, but I am pretty sure other supporters don't have the brains to sit there and think!!!

My wife and I voted for Dr. Paul this morning at 7:15 AM. Our poll is at the Myrtle Beach Community Church which is located at the Hard Rock Theme Park. The machines were down, and the poll workers didn't really know how to handle the paper ballots. It was all very confusing. The paper ballots are the size of a piece of legal pad paper and the envelopes are about half that size.

There were only two other gentlemen. Found out one of them voted for Ron Paul as well.

So I know for a fact there are at least 3 votes in this morning!

The weather here may keep some from getting out for sure.

Oh, also, election commission people gave me these links for tracking the results. They will be posted her as soon as they go in to the election commission to be officially counted.

http://www.state.sc.us/cgi-bin/scsec/r108p

Clicking on the county name will take you to the precinct totals. I know which precinct I'm watching :)

The link they gave you says this:

Isn't that ironic.

Great job! You might want to make a new thread regarding this information!

Sorry if the link was broken.

Here's the main page: http://scvotes.org/

These are technically unofficial results, but they told me that should be accurate.

I'll put on an appropriate thread...thanks for the suggestion!

Also, I promise I'm not dumb...I think I would have been fine if I had gotten some kind of confirmation of success.

I think most of the poll workers are more likely to be lazy or incompetent as opposed to corrupt (edit, at least they are volunteering their time to do this though).

Why put blame to corruption, conspiracy, and evil intentions when you can accomplish the same goals through laziness, incompetence, and apathy with so much less effort?

~X~

Thanks for voting, um, I hope the OP voted for Dr. Paul. :)

I suggest everyone get used to electronic voting... its here to stay and probably will completely replace paper ballots eventually. Giving out a receipt for a vote WILL NEVER HAPPEN.. and there are alot of reasons why, mainly for your safety.

By the way, this type of abusive/annoying behavior is what gives Ron Paul a bad name... it is the way it is, why would you argue with a poll worker? *sighs*

[sarcasm]Yeah, right. Anyone in a position of authority is always right and should never be questioned. Let's just skip the election and make GW Bush Emperor for life.[/sarcasm]

I sent this message to my meetup this morning describing my voting experience here in Beaufort County:

I went and voted this morning as part of Bluffton precinct 1D. I looked online for my location, which was at MC Riley Elem. on Burnt Church Road. However, my voter registration card indicated 11 Church Road in Old Town Bluffton. Hmmm...interesting. On my way to the school (about 1 mile), I saw 3 prominent Ron Paul signs and 2 smaller signs each for Rudy and McCain. Arriving at the school, the parking lot was nearly empty. I walked up to find 3 others waiting and the door locked. We slammed on the door and it eventually opened. The precinct person there said that he didn't have a key. I went in to vote on the iVotronic machine, which reminded me of an old Commodore 64 - pressed the Ron Paul button, hit confirm and that was it. There was no receipt or anything. I walked out and went home. The experience was entirely too easy to manipulate.

I can't do this today due to prior commitments - but if some RP supporters went to the Church Road location and offered help to those in precinct 1D, you could be both a good Samaritan and maybe sway a potential voter.

Stay warm for freedom!

Why what?!

Sounds to me like the poll worker was abusive and annoying not the other way around. Perrin, you did the right thing and are a credit to our cause, THANK YOU. How about some support for the home team montez!?

Giant Magnets?

What happens someone were take in a huge magnet in and wipe the memory cards....would not they all have to go to paper ballots everywhere?
