Join the National Ron Paul Revolution Meet Up--the next step in the Revolution:

The Next Step for Us All (Updated)
Posted February 9th, 2008 by PA GOPer

For those of you who are now thinking that this endeavour is coming to an end, you couldn't be more wrong. The way I see it, Dr. Paul has put himself out there as a target for the Neo-Con and Neo-Libs to attack. He promoted the basic principles of our Constitution and a true conservative message.

He inspired us all.

It is time we do something for ourselves and take on our own fight. We as a group have witnessed how an established GOP party that is well organized and entrenched in the system can manipulate the media and the meaning of the word Conservative.

We must each take it upon ourselves to counter this action. The Religious Right gained power by electing delegates and local party officials in the late 70's and early 80's.

This is our course of action.

If we are all truely supportive of Dr. Paul and the principles he has been the champion for, then we owe it to him to help him change the culture of the GOP. If we start by entrenching ourselves and like minded individuals within the local GOP committees, we can enact the same change within the party so that come 2012, we can actually utilize the positions to promote Liberty.

Now i know that about 80% of the people that support the good Doctor will disappear after he ends his run, so i am pleading with those of you who will still be looking to enact real meaningful change in the party. We need to step up to the plate and take the torch from Dr. Paul and fight our own battles to spread the message. That, as Dr. Paul puts it, is the real reason he has been in this campaign.

First we must become more active within the GOP and not as we were before. We need to take up the domestic issues that have been raised by doctor Paul and promote them to no end. While we all are opposed to the foreign policy of GLOBAL WELFARE, we should down play our opposition to the Wars until we have enabled ourselves to become influential enough to actually change it.

This will be the toughest battle any of us will undertake (aside from a personal family tragedy) for it will be for the long haul. Yes I believe we should fight against the McCain nomination and the election of more Socialist principles, but we must prepare to help Dr. Paul in Congress in 2010. We must be organized even further so that we can be considered an important voter block so that we can then dictate the course of future elections. If we don't we will all be doomed to continue the course into a suppressive government.

Since none of us want that, we should be the ones running the local caucuses and committees. This way we can then dictate the rules of engagement as they have been dictated to us.

We need to take over the system, so as to eliminate the failings of the system. for if we can take up only 10% of the committees we can start pursuing the direction of them towards the ideals we hold dear. For we all know how the message is received before we mention Dr. Paul's name and if we subvertly entrench ourselves in the system, they will not be able to mute us as they have in the media. For when we get just 10% of the committees, we can snowball that into growth that will avalanche into a sweeping take over.

Then it will be us that will be able to promote the values we hold dear, in much the same manner the Religious Right had in the 80's and 90's.

If you are interested, please join the new Meet Up at the address below and let me know and then bump this message. Depending upon the reaction, i\I will sart up a meet up group so as to communicate with each other to achieve our goal of continuing the rEVOLution.

This national meetup needs to get in touch with all of the other meetups and at least get the meetup organizers on board. That way, one post to the national meetup gets into the hands of all of the meetups in the country.

I tried to promote that idea early on, but to no avail.

I'll be joining tonight.

Jim

I brought this up to awhile back. We need to keep the serious fighters together and in touch with each other. I myself asked to be the Committee Precinct Officer since the seat was open. Thats where I plan to start and from there I will move up. I look forward to my first campaign. As we keep this group together, we need to make sure we support each other. I pledge to donate to those in need when it comes time to run a local campaign. This fight has just began, we will lose many battles and we will win many battles. What we must not lose is our belief in a better America and world. I will now go and sign up on the meetup group. Keeping the message alive and spread ing it has been the entire point in my opinion. Take it back one seat at a time. We did not win our first independence over night.

I know there are a bunch of sites trying to do this, but it seems a lot of them are wanting to do it the old way. Meaning with chairmen, board of directors etc... What I would like to see is something close to meetup but with a "scorecard". So we can see at a glance our county and state info of who is part of the revolution and what position they hold in the GOP.

Also, this national meetup can maybe separate the folks who will vote for Ron Paul Republicans and those who will actually go to the local GOP meetings and try to take positions. I have committed to do so. Both the young repubs and the regular meetings.

I am anxious to discuss the future.

Are you the organizer of this group? If so, why does MeetUp show your join date as January 29, 2008?

With all due respect, who are you?

No, I am not the organizer of the group. Michael Falkevitz in Pennsylvania is the organizer. I was just posting here to tell people about it. I am part of the Jacksonville, Fla. Meet Up for Ron Paul.

If I have to hear "I have the way to keep everyone together after this campaign..." one more time... :p

Why don't we all just stick around with existing projects like ronpaulforums.com and rpiradio.com within communities with established crews of people we know on the inside rather than having a bunch of new ones pop up just for the purpose of creating new websites/mailing lists/whatever?

While I agree that we need to take advantage of the current community systems we have built up, I think the past few months have shown some flaws with the very basic bulletin board system being utilized here at RPForums.

I think we could probably benefit from having a fully customized community site (with personal blogs, official news releases & editors/mods, as well as forums, etc). The signal-noise ratio has gone to crap.

mdh:

You might just be right on this one. I am beginning to realize that RFP is the Ultimate Ron Paul site for this community--for local activism, local Meet Ups still exist and meet. I willpromote PRF at my local Meet Up message board and meeting.

I couldn't agree more!

As to coagulating what is already in place, there are 3 groups for Meetup Organizers and assistant organizers as well as Meetup Alliance that is also open to operators of RP web sites, facebook groups, etc.

http://ronpaul.meetup.com/511/ National Organizers Meetup
http://organizer.meetup.com/141/ RP Meetup Organizers Group
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/RPMeetupOrganizers/?yguid=295141797 RPMeetupOrganizers
and
http://www.meetupalliance.com/RonPaul2008

Meetup Alliance is limited in functionality right now, but new capabilities are supposed to roll out in the future.

If you are a Meetup organizer or assistant organizer please join one of the first 3 groups listed and the Meetup Alliance. Please note that only one person from each group can join Meetup Alliance, while both organizers and assistant organizers can join the first 3. Your status will be verified, in ALL cases!

We currently have contact information for a bit over half of the Meetup organizers and are going to try doing 2 things:

1) Get the other half of the organizers to join one of the groups.
2) Develop some better "glue" between the groups so we aren't posting important things to 3 different groups and having parallel conversations going.

thanks,

-n
