John Stossel Says Ron Paul Will Catch On Next Week

I was at my Grandpa's house the other day and he had on FOX news (not the local stuff). I politely asked him if he would change it. He complied and put on CNN.

/facepalm

CNN and MSNBC are all off my channel list. I did it to save my sanity actually. I started having a severe physical reaction (close to rage) to even 5 seconds of accidental viewing. It was wierd. I compared it too being in an abusive type relationship while watching them.

Maybe the fact that NV is about to screw itself will prove the GOP isn't out to serve the people.

It is a "wishful thinking" comment.... "Oh, I will get around to it next week"

Why do today what you can put off til tomorrow.

Ron Paul will catch on "next week". A day late and a dollar short.

Hey, I hope something big happens next week, but I find that comment to be nothing more than I mentioned....

i just think media is playing up his delegate strategy, so that they can paint the campaign in a bad light - saying "see, Paul supporters are trying to hijack YOUR chosen nominee Romney !!"

Good point. False comfort, reverse psychology.

I don't think it is reverse psychology. Stossel is a true believer. I just think he is jesting, as he knows the game. He has been a libertarian for a long time.

yep, this is what I'm waiting for...

Kind of interesting how he says "Ron Paul will catch on next week" though. What is he talking about? Or he just rambling?

I didn't see it, I'm just wondering about it.

It could be he was just joking. Ron Paul HAS already caught on. No candidate gets the crowds he gets.

IHMO Stossel is the bone Fox throws us because OReilly can beat him in a debate from time to time which would never happen with Napalitano.

I don't think it's that conspiratorial. I think FOX likes Stossel because he's a good on-air talent. Same with Napolitano.

I think that, yes, they tolerate the Ron Paul and libertarian inclinations of Stossel and Napolitano because they realize it's a bad idea to completely alienate the Ron Paul crowd (they already saw what that looks like in 2008), but I also think they tolerate them because they LIKE both of them and think they are talented on-air personalities. So it's not so cut and dry.

If you read Stossel's latest book, he talks a bit about his experiences with FOX, and contrasts that with his experiences at ABC. It's clear from his writings that FOX, in contrast to ABC, has been very friendly, supportive, professional, and collegiate.

I'm not saying FOX isn't still the devil, but I don't think it's the case that the FOX execs were sitting in a closed-door meeting one day and said "we need some libertarian voices, let's hire Stossel and Napolitano and pretend we like these guys".

I would not be surprised by that at all. It is marketing and demographics. If they think they can suck in some more demographics by "playing nice", they would in a heartbeat. As long as they stay on track with the main objective. Thinking they my lure some of the demographics into their propaganda shows if they give them a gateway drug like Stossel or Napolitano.

Maybe he was referring to next Tuesday when Ron reintroduces ENDING THE FED to his panel in Congress. Europe should be going through convulsions at the same time. And did you hear our 10-year Treasurys are now yielding only 1.88%? Holy crap, Batman.

I'm really surprised Obama isn't trying to highlight the division more. If that doesn't show the "bought and paid for" media circus, I don't know what does!

Wouldn't it be in Obama's best interest to make Romney work harder for the nomination?
Oooooh! I would absolutely *LOVE* for Obama to bring more attention to this situation. It would only hurt Romney & help Paul.

Which is why I don't think Obama will do it. He'd have to be insane to do *anything* that might concievably help Ron.

Did I suggest that?

I think they like people who toe the line, yet want to corner our market and make us theirs.
