Jersey beach smoking ban ridiculous

The town, obviously. It's free for everyone to pollute. F*** laws. Freedom.

Ah, but you're forgetting one thing: the biggest polluters are always government and industry; And a lot of the time, they're not held accountable.

I normally don't smoke in crowded public places because it is rude.

I'll pose a hypothetical though: in a wide open park on a breezy day with practically noone else around, should I be "BANNED" from smoking because it might irritate somebody?

And where do you come down on the electronic cigarettes/ hash vapers.

**I live by the lipari landfill, so I have some first-hand knowledge of big-time pollution.

I quit smoking twice.. due to hype and the pressure of other people. For well over a year each time and long passed any "addiction".

I smoke because I like tobacco.

And yes,, I do roll my own,, due to price and taxes.

Oh,, and my last employer,, a few years back had full medical tests run on me because I worked with hazardous materials.. Including full chest X-rays.

I was told that my lungs were remarkably clear. And that after smoking since I was 12,, and painting cars for a few years before I ever started using a respirator..(OSHA rules)
Believe me,, the stuff I breathe while prepping and painting a car is much harsher than any tobacco product,

Ya people don't realize the shit they breath in every day whether they smoke or not, the air is full of dust, smog, pollen and all sorts of crap.. Your lungs do have a mechanism for cleaning themselves.

I'll bet if you smoke cigarettes and do some sort of physical labor or exercise they stay pretty clean. It's probably the people sitting in their god damn house or apartment all day watching tv and chain smoking that get those really nasty lungs.

Not being able to burn toxic chemicals in my vicinity is enslavement. Right. I guess environmental laws to prevent chemical waste being dumped into rivers is enslavement as well.

You never answered the question at least a couple people have asked..

You want to blanket ban or is organic chemical free tobacco ok with you?

If you sit in your apartment all day, you don't have to smoke to have shitty health.

I'm with you bro. I don't smoke, and sometimes am downwind of smokers as I wait for my transportation. I just move, no big deal. Smoke on. I don't give a shit, in fact I enjoy the discomfort of others in that situation.

"The air is already full of crap, might as well add more to it, what more harm could it do?" Really weak argument, IMO. My problem isn't the cigarette smoke going into the atmosphere, it's douchebags sitting/standing right next to me, then lighting one up.

Me personally, I can't stand people with BO.

I mean, their smell is obnoxious. They come stand close to me, smelling of ripe ass, and what am I to do?

I'll vote for your law if you vote for mine.

(just an illustration on what is wrong with this world)

Is their BO full of dangerous toxins?

It could be.

Just like those assholes wearing too much perfume or aluminum chlorohydrate. And I'm just supposed to stand there and breath that in? I have allergies, dust even bothers me.. and here these people are reeking of titanium dioxide and aluminum chlorohydrate.

Don't even get me started on automobiles. Carbon monoxide is poison. Yet here all these inconsiderate people are driving past me, polluting my ozone, with their microwave emitting cancer machines, as carcinogenic as lead, did you know?

Let me know when my absurd scenarios of busy-body-dom have become too much.

I thought I was debating cigarette smoking, not car emissions and perfume. I guess I'm forgetful.

What I am attempting to point out is that it's all well and good while you are in the majority. You won't always be in the majority, though. While you dislike cigarette smoking in your vicinity others think tinted windows past 5% is unsafe and yet others think that all milk ought to be pasteurized.

And sure, my absurd scenarios aren't quick to pass anytime soon; the public uses those things, but mark my words, whether it is raw milk, a requirement for health insurance, or your land being labeled encroaching on existing wetlands, you won't always be the majority that non-smokers so generously embrace. So I may be taxed 300% and I may not be able to smoke if I share a joining wall, or even in my automobile someday, but rest assured what goes around in this collectivist busy body system comes around. I'm not particularly petty or I'd cheer when big gulps get banned, or other products I don't partake in.

Carry on.

Well if you're allergic to perfume then that both car emissions and perfume would be worse for you than cigarettes.

You're getting your panties in a bunch over nothing, second hand smoke outdoors will never affect your health, ever. If it bothers you, then move or limit your time out in public. Obviously you don't have the nerves to be around a lot of other people unless their activities are under heavy restriction and that isn't really their problem.

I actually am allergic to perfume, but cigarette smoke is far more annoying, especially on boardwalks by the beach when groups of people are smoking and it blows into everyone behind them, then gotta do the getfrontofthem shuffle, constantly. Smokers everywhere. It's obnoxious. When cigarette smoke is outdoors, it doesn't somehow change the chemistry of what's being burned.

Well , with your skills and mine , if you hold my beer for a minute , you will not have to wait for transportation , LOL

If one had the ability to choose between the inconveniences of Too Little Freedom, or the burdens of Too Much Freedom, I would choose the problems that result from Too Much Freedom.

Once Smoking is made completely illegal (you all know it IS coming), then they WILL go after Body Odor, offensive Perfume, Colognes, people with stinky feet, limburger cheese, people that smell like wet dog after bathing their dogs, and everything that anyone deems offensive.

Olfactory Tyranny by any other name still smells like shit to me.
